    @Roger-Saffle Make sure you use the same IP as the old main, and same name.

    @tnunn

    In my own experience, the image process completing without doing anything happened due to a weird MBR size that is made custom for some brands…

    Can you tell us what the output is of these commands:

    cat /images/<image name here>/d1.fixed_size_partitions cat /images/<image name here>/d1.minimum.partitions

    Can you try changing the filename from undionly.kpxe to undionly.kkpxe and see if that helps out?

    Those errors occur when you’re looking at the fog configuration pages base page. The come up because of the attempt to read the bzImage and bzImage32 files version.

    @Danny-R Can you make sure tftp is running on your fog server? That link will tell you how to check it and start it.

    You can also try to get the file via TFTP through the CLI on the FOG server itself. If it succeeds, it’s a firewall issue. If it does not, you have either permissions or TFTP goofed. The Troubleshoot TFTP article shows how everything should be and gives commands for all of it.

    Is there a known solution to this outside of using the FOG server for DHCP?

    You can use Windows DHCP. You could even use ProxyDHCP (dnsmasq).

    The TFTP article I posted links to those topics.

    Are the images partclone or partimage ? If they are old partimage images and not set as such, it wouldn’t work.

    That makes sense, the only reason we stuck with the desktop version is we have on site people that are not all that technical. Walking them through a CLI is tough sometimes if we can’t remotely manage. If i can’t get the trunk version installed on this version of ubuntu, next time i’m on site i will defiantly try a debian cli.

    I’ll post anymore updates as soon as i can. Again, thanks for the info and i’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

    @DarkEnergy Check your chats.

    Yeah and no, I think.

    I don’t know how to describe it simply.

    Since we got your stuff, kind of, working, I haven’t changed the storage or image stuff so as to break it as you were once seeing. If anything, I found and fixed more potential issues

    Apparently the us.archive and us.security for old releases is no longer hosted at their relative release. So to fix, I have modified testing against the “old-releases” links and this appears to work properly.

    SVN 3616 should fix this for you, hopefully.

    @contewit You might not need to worry about it. I’m currently in the process of getting one of these broke Dell images to Tom, and he’s going to mess around with it.

    For the commands being executed, I don’t think there is any method to “show” them… However, if you look into the several scripts that are used, they all have variables. Those begin with $ signs.

    You can echo the contents of variables like this:

    echo $VariableNameIsCaseSensitive

    Check this out, too: http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Bash-Prog-Intro-HOWTO-5.html

    I have the Virtual Drive set to IDE should I try SATA?

    You should be using SATA in VMWare (or other solutions) no matter what kernel you’re using. Yeah do it.
    But I doubt this will solve your problem… We’ll see.
