• SVN 3526 - Snapins not in "Active Snapin Tasks" after scheduled task is triggered

    Just did a group download task (instant deploy) with SVN 3575 - and the basic snapin behavior seems to be fine now.
    The snapin tasks are displayed and applied correctly. To put the computers in the domain also is faster (tried the new fog client with this svn)

    Thank you very much!

    (I hope next week I can test a scheduled group download task run and the the behavior with the the deletion of a download task when deleting all (to a host) connected snapin tasks)

    @Chris-Garsee and I fixed this today.

    He updated to 12.04, and we updated the rest of the system using:

    sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade;

    Found that the nfs-kernel-server package wasn’t updated with the main OS. Once we updated and restarted the services and selected a proper image, the system went beyond the 20%.

    I’m going to chalk it up to older data with the newer init’s methods of mounting causing the problems we were seeing.

    @Oleg not a problem.

    It’s off by default because it’s really an unimportant figure, with being able to see your space utilization on the dashboard and all.

    @Trevelyan Do you mind hitting me up through chat?

    I think I know a fix. My guess all of the systems have a VM system installed on them? Because of the imaging process, they all have the exact same NICs for the VM system. What I’d recommend is to set the two macs on the filter list so those two macs don’t get added/readded through subsequent registers.

    This meaning, add the two 00:50:56 (you should be okay with just that much of the mac added to the filter, approve these two nics and delete them after approving them.

    They should no longer continue to register (hopefully if SVN is working properly) and all your other hosts should (if using the new client) register themselves into a pending state, or do nothing at all because there’s no mac address associated with a host.

    Better yet forget all of that mysql nonsense. You can add all of your hosts to a group and change Group Kernel to nothing, or whatever you may want there.

    @Wayne-Workman Success!

    ok the latest snapin has worked as expected. Root cause I think was the locations and how I had set them up. Each host has a Location entry and each location points to a storage group.

    I’d set the host I was testing this on to the only location I’d set up for head office and this was pointing to the wrong storage group.

    I’ll do some further testing this week but hopefully others with same issue can at least learn from my mistakes…

    Wayne, really appreciate the time and effort you put in to help me out with this one, greatly appreciated.

    cheers, Kiweegie.

    @Lenny87 Hi, there is no “user guide” to add iso on iPXE, it depends what ISO you want to add : https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/5142/adding-iso

    Ubuntu is … a hassal and is kind of expected to haver some hiccups. I’d recommend using Cent OS or Fedora. Or if you are more comfortable with Ubuntu, 12.04 LTS is great, its actually what one of my development servers run on.

    https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/FOGUserGuide#Installing_FOG

    I’d recommend any Red-Hat based linux (Fedora, CentOS, RHEL), but FOG pretty much works on every major distribution.

    At work, I’m using Fedora 21 server, at home, I’m using Fedora 22 server.

    CentOS 7, Debian 8, Fedora 21 - 22, Ubuntu 15.04, and current RHEL.

    I’d just like to state that this issue has been solved.

    In summary, the installer will fail if you use DNSMASQ’s built-in tftp server instead of tftpd-hpa.

    Thank you for all of your help!
