@Sebastian-Roth We found what the problem was.

Problem was the partition was not “shutdown” properly as Windows 10 allows for “fastbooting”

I found out the ntfs-3g driver can accept a cool parameter in hopes to fix this. Added this to the inits and uploaded. John has confirmed this works for Upload and the device still boots. Just waiting to hear back if a download works after all this.

Well now I’m super curious if it will solve the FastBooting issues I’ve seen and solved with other methods…

Thanks Tom and everyone! The update has resolved the error with my kernel download. Not sure what got flubbed up to begin with, but resolved.

CPU seems to be looking more normal as well, after deleting all the hosts and re-adding as they check in.

    Can be marked as solved.

    Hi george1421,

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like FOG is capable of doing what I need if I am able to figure it out, as I’ve no time frame for getting this done I might have a play with it and test some configurations out.

    Thanks

    Noel

Ok this worked by recreating the keys. Install worked fine and server seems to be working well.
Only thing I have noticed is several labs worth of Desktops had invalid tokens so I’ve needed to “Reset Encryption Data” to get them talking back to the server again.

Aside from that all is working well 🙂

    Thanks again.

The FTP credentials issue is likely the issue with replication as well.

@moses Probably a bug… but update to the latest and recheck if it’s still an issue please.

This is a fine example of a minor bug. This is the type of stuff we warn people about when telling them of FOG Trunk.

@mageta52 said in Questions about FOG on isolated network:

It sounds like what Quazz is saying, is that I can be on the local subnet ( 192.168.1.0 ) get the install done, then statically set the interface to 10.0.1.1 or something else on that isolated subnet, and then FOG will be able to adjust to it accordingly. Is this correct?

You can connect the fog server to the business network to download FOG 1.2.0 stable then switch the network interface to the installation LAN and install FOG. For the trunk build you will need to have internet access (with a second nic) but initially fog must be installed with the main ethernet adapter at the final IP address and subnet mask.

@Gink OK the first step is to get it to boot on the same subnet. The next step is a bit harder. Its not so bad if you are using a MS/Linux DHCP server, with DNSMASQ the next process “might” work.

On your router between the vlans. You probably setup a dhcp-helper or what also called a dhcp-relay service. In that service configuration you would typically point that service towards your real dhcp server. Then the router knows where to send the dhcp requests it hears on other vlans. Now in this setup, add the fog server IP as the last device in your dhcp-relay service configuration. You still want your main dhcp server to provide the IP addresses for everything, just dnsmasq has to hear the request so it can reply correctly, otherwise the dnsmasq service is only listening for dhcp broadcasts on its local subnet. (understand this is just off the top of my head, but it sounds logical)
