Problem seems to have resolved itself. May have been between keyboard and monitor.

I just checked the access and error logs but didn’t find anything that made sense to me. I cleared the logs and tried creating a host through the web GUI and it didn’t work. No error message, it just closes like it worked.

The problem might have been that I was using the MAC address for the name. Apparently that isn’t allowed even though I remember the full host registry and inventory doing that on its own.

Anyway, it just worked twice with a random hostname and a MAC address so it appears to to be working correctly. I swear this didn’t work yesterday, however.

If this is true, FOG would be able to accomplish this through snapins (you could even do it with batch, vbscript, and csv files on network storage if you really wanted to - that’s how my company does it right now).

As for point 5, I’m guessing they are talking about mounting and editing the image being stored on the server. Doing that… I’m not so sure. It looks like this forum has some insight into it:

i do not seem to get the settings of the storage node of the networkdrive correct in fog -keep getting connection failed
with ubuntu i can go write and read on networkdrive but not with fog

I have disabled and reenabled plugins, recopied and pasted the Capone information, and reloaded the DMI information, but it still won’t come up. I am forced to assume that Capone does not work with version 32. Is there a newer version of Capone?

Thanks for the replies. Just ended up doing a fresh .33 install. Trying to image a RHEL 6.3 machine but it keeps trying to image the machine as EXT3FS and not EXT4. Can’t figure out why.

From what I can tell by looking at screenshots of Partclone, it appears that .33 is loading up Partimage instead. This was a fresh install of .33 beta. I thought Partclone was the new software in init.gz. Confused…

There are some customizations that the user community has made to Fog which allows you to specify which partitions to upload and deploy, but it is NOT built in to the base product.

I know there is a wiki article or a forum thread about how to do this, so look around.

reinstall and use advanced options to choose ext3 as the filesystem instead of ext4, or download and run the fog0.33 beta.

unless you are just tied to fedora for some reason, install ubuntu 10.04 Server LTS and you can follow the instructions in the wiki article. I do not use Fedora currently, and I have no idea how to customize dnsmasq to do what it needs to do without the Ubuntu LTSP stuff.
