as i said before. i am using 2 xml files “audit.xml and unattend.xml” and both are in “C:\windows \system32\sysprep” and i am using 2 patch files audit.bat where i have this command “C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /audit /quit /unattend:C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\audit.xml” after running the audit.bat the sysprep will import all the drivers into the system and then boot windows, at that point it will show you the GUI of sysprep just close it. i run the other phase of sysprep oobe.bat “C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /quit /unattend:C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml”
and here everything is getting done for deployment. why would you put your drivers into WinPE ??? you should put them into the Audit phase “look at my audit.xml” in the previous post. anyway it depends on your deployment method. this process is working for me and may be there are other ways out there but i couldnt find any better than this. i attached a copy of my audit.xml just try it and see if it works for you. as i said before just change the path to the drivers and the architecture.

Fog server having a static IP doesn’t really answer the question? Is the FOG server your DHCP server also? Did you update all the settings that tell the clients where to go for PXE? Are you running a proxyDHCP/LTSP/DNSMASQ?

usually a [CODE]ps ax | grep dhcp[/CODE] will tell you. You can also check your syslog to see if dhcp is having problems starting due to a configuration error. I believe in 11.04 it’s /etc/default/dhcp… something.

FOG is pretty rock solid once it has been setup. What kinds of issues are you thinking you might run into?

Have you recompiled and replaced hostnamechange.dll on your image? That step seems to elude many folks.

I think you might not understand how FOG works. FOG for imaging is only used to image a computer, similar to Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, and Clonezilla. FOG will not aid in installing an operating system other than deploying the image onto the drive. If you want to add an option to boot Windows 7 into a “silent mode” this would need to be entered into the answer file when you created it using WAIK. All the settings would need to be configured here, and then the host machine imaged with FOG.

OK, that worked. It took me some time to find it. On this BIOS it was hidden rather deeply and under some dire warning about the end of the world or at least of the motherboard.

There are no converters. Partimage files are a compressed stream.

Also wanted to say thanks to everyone involved in developing FOG. It’s a terrific tool and I’ve had great success using stand-alone servers for imaging. I’m hoping to take advantage of the more advanced features soon.

Even though we’re a “Microsoft shop”, I don’t think I’ll have trouble convincing the powers that be to make the switch, considering I was able to deploy 30 new laptops by myself in less than 3.5 hours using FOG, 2 5port-100Mbit switches, and minimal cursing.

Using VMware with appliance: [url]http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/246903[/url] and updated it to Version 0.32, it was an process of ~30min, without problems and working for me.

This steps worked for me under Ubuntu:

[INDENT=1][FONT=courier new]sudo ./installfog.sh[/FONT][/INDENT]

Never uninstall something because it didnt work instantly, make it work.

That being sad, it is very easy and automatic to upgrade to 0.32.
