Just a quick question. The possibility of boot sector viruses was brought up to me and I was curious if FOG re-writes the MBR when it deploys images.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

With Single Partition type images FOG does rewrite the MBR. With The Multiple Partition types FOG just clones the MBR.

I have my Windows 7 images deploying as Multi and XP deploying as Single right now. For whatever reason when I first did a Windows7 image I was only able to get it to work properly as a Mutli Partition Image - Single Disk.

I may need to work in a MBR erase before imaging to appease those that be.

I’m sure I have more options at my disposal than I have the motivation to look into right now…

        😕

The MBR on the target drive is overwritten with a clone of the MBR from the source computer via the imaging process.
