Please refrain from posting similar questions in multiple forums, this makes it hard for users to find answers when using the search system, and it makes it harder on those of us dedicating our time to try to help others.
Someone will be happy to assist you when someone with the expertise becomes available.

i have had this problem before it ended up being the graphics card driver, and our solution to this was to just use quick host registration and then change the host name ext in the fog console. then when it came to imaging we deployed the image and watched the progress form active tacks… it will get the job done if you need to finish up quickly.

p.s. you may need to restart the computer manually after the registration is done.

You’re going to need to review the threads here on using gPXE and interpret them to apply to proxy-dhcp/ltsp/dnsmasq. It should not be that difficult, you’re just going to hand off from pxe to gPXE, then grab the correct menu and go from there. The only difference may be the location of your pxelinux.0 file and the pxelinux.cfg directory location.
6/27/2013 11:17 AM FOG::HostnameChanger Domain Error! (‘Unknown Error’ Code: 87)
Always use the code tags when posting logs or code to keep the board from eating it and pooping out smilies.

Double check the information used for AD joining that is stored in the global FOG settings against the information that is stored in the Active Directory page for the particular host. Make sure they match, with the global FOG settings winning out over the host Active Directory settings if there is a difference.

can you catch the computer during boot up when the dell logo appears, and press F12 and get the computer to boot from the NIC card? if you don’t get the option to boot from the NIC card it isn’t enabled in the BIOS settings.

I just had this same problem with some brand new Dells. There is also a deep sleep mode in some Dell BIOS that needs to be turned off. Without this disabled, the NIC card isn’t even powered on to look for WOL packets.

I saw in multicast.log : "
Task (30) xxx failed to execute, image file not found!"

There is a bug : in multicastSessions table -> the msImage column have not the right value. Title instead of filename.

Zaza.

I’m in the same boat.

I’ve isolated that it occurs when I try to Deploy a multi-part non-resizeable image, and then try to upload that same image as a resizable image.

• Can I restore an image from PartImage through my Fog Server?

If you setup an image in FOG, use partimage to install it on a computer, then when you restart the machine you upload it to FOG right away, that should work. Or, this should be possible with a “tweak”. If you install .32 bypass you would need to enter the following, of course, changing for your environment. This will allow you to image right from the FOG PXE menu:
LABEL XP Domain Image
menu passwd xxx (if you want to password protect your menu item where xxx is your password. Recommended so that random users can’t reimage machines!)
kernel fog/kernel/bzImage
append initrd=fog/images/bypass.gz root=/dev/ram0 rw ramdisk_size=127000 ip=dhcp dns=YOURDNSSERVER type=down img=YOURIMAGE ftp=FOGSERVERIP storage=FOGSERVERIP:/images/ web=FOGSERVERIP/fog/ osid=1 imgType=n loglevel=4 sessionPwd= consoleblank=0
Where the /images/ is where your current image is stored. FOG is built off of PartImage so any that you have will work.

Check on the server itself, look in the folder /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/

there should be a file named to that of your mac address, simply delete the file and try again.

Hi all,

I upgraded the kernel version on Friday and it would not work, however this morning it started working?! Very strange…

Anyway got my first imaged deployed, updated and uploaded back to fog now so all good.

Cant believe how better Fog is than Altiris Deployment!

Cheers

Hi!

Did you ever get this sorted out? I am having the same problem and none of the tricks seem to work. Running on Ubuntu 12.04 server.
