In the web console you can set / configure the pc’s to always reboot / reimage on X day at X time. This was an alternative to using software to lock the machines down further, simply reimage them every night / etc.

    Look here - http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Managing_FOG#Cron_Style_Task_Scheduling

I don’t think Fog v.32 supports 4 k sectors at this time… I could be wrong though. I thought this was coming out with v.33

edit yup 4k support in v.33 (see below)

Rewritten PHP code base to be fully Objected Oriented - easier to develop & maintain Developer Tools - create your own FOG Page's to suit your needs Hook System - manipulate data & structure easily Web UI update - tabs, style updates, lots of code updates & bug fixes Mobile UI update - revamped structure & styles Partclone - EXT4 & Extended Partition support Advanced Format Drive support - 4k sector support

    Hi

I created this page some time ago

    http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Working_device_drivers_snapins

I’m used to deploy device drivers as snapins. most device drivers have a installer able to run silently. However, some drivers need to run when a user is logged on. Some of them (sometimes realtek hdaudio or ac97 depending on the computer, or some ATI video drivers) are a bit ugly and don’t run well silently.

    Have a look, that’s quite nice 🙂

Now I’m using .cmd files as snapins, and they start my device driver from a SMB share. This is easier to maintain and troubleshoot. No more need to create a sfx with 7z 🙂
Good day all,

Ive been running fog for about 6 months now and think the system is absolutly brilliant, One thing im having an issue with is adding more storage for the images folder, ive tried a set of instructions from an old post but i keep getting mount issues, really all im looking to do is expand the image folders, Any help would be great, also any news on 0.33 looking forward to testing the new system out?
http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Adding_Storage_to_a_FOG_Server

If the disk is already installed, partitioned, and formated, just follow the steps starting with renaming the existing /images folder.

    Hi,

Well no side effect at this moment 😉

Yes, the only one I have now is the PXE boot that is a bit slow, of course, my Optiplex 390 is 30km away from the FOG server, with a tiny VPN between both sites.
    But no other effect.

Ok, so more troubleshooting, and I’ve narrowed it down. After checking all the tables in the database I’ve found that the “Inventory” table is corrupted. I’ve searched around and found out about about the REPAIR TABLE <TABLENAME> command. The result I get is 2 errors:

Error | Incorrect key file for table ‘inventory’; try to repair it error | Corrupt

I’ve also tried using the myisamchk command, though I still get the same results. Again, DB’s are my strong suite, so any pointers would be appreciated!!

In the event that the table is unrecoverable, where do I do from here?

    Chris

FYI, here are the lines I had to add to the iPxe config to deal with the other TFTP image server on my school network:

#already had this line in place
    set next-server 10.xxx.xxx.xxx

#additional lines to make sure correct boot image and image server are used
    set filename pxelinux.0
    set proxydhcp/filename pxelinux.0
    set proxydhcp/next-server 10.xxx.xxx.xxx

Sussed it out. you need to enter a password in the Master Password box in the ‘Other Information’ page before you can update the PXE menu settings.

As an update, we have decided to install FOG on our dedicated Ubuntu server and we just got in a a clean copy of Windows XP (an install disk not from HP, Dell, etc.). So the plan is to get FOG up on the new machine and the build a fresh image from scratch. This should hopefully resolve any odd ball issues that were preventing an upload.
To fix the timezone issue, edit your php.ini and set the ‘date.timezone’ variable.

The installer does not use ‘php -v’ to check the version, it queries RPM.
Run this for me and post the output:
rpm -q php53

Odd, on my base server php -v sez I have version 5.1. If I do an rpm-q php51, it said not installed, BUT if I try rpm -q php it correctly identifies 5.1 as the version. i also noticed that the wiki doc states in the CentOS install that it was tested with 0.30. Has any testing been done with 0.32 and CentOS or am I performing that function. 🙂

    Hi Jamie,

Yes, there is. Have a look at this thread: http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/how-to-modify-the-pxe-boot-menu-to-allow-the-booting-of-iso-files.154/

There’s one comment of mine where I’ve detailed -in red lines- the structure you should follow. Although I’ve only used it for rescue tools, you should be able to select and deploy images.

Got it fix already. It seems I that I made some wrong configurations during the setup of the FOG server. I just refer to “Change FOG Server IP address” guide to change to the IP address that I want.
