• RE: Question about Queue Size Setting

Ok…
I found this in another thread by chad-bisd

“go to your Fog server web page, login, go to storage management icon, click All Storage Nodes on the left menu. Select the storage node you want to edit, which is probably DefaultMember, adjust the MaxClients value there to however low you want it.”

Here’s the thread…

• Question about Queue Size Setting

Hey guys,

I’m new to Fog so please excuse the stupid question…

I’m trying to edit the setting FOG_QUEUESIZE but it’s not making any difference to the way the server is responding during MultiCast or UniCast jobs.

The default is set to 10 but I have changed it to 3. After I have all my hosts (25) setup and have them in a group. I go to Task Management > List all Groups. My group shows and then I have tried both Deployment Options Deploy (one green arrow pointing down) and MultiCast (forked green arrow pointing down).

If I choose MultiCast it will start all 25 PC’s and try to image them at the same time.

If I choose Deploy it will start all 25 PC’s, put 15 in a holding pattern, while it deploys the image to 10.

I would like to limit it to 3 to 5 at a time because I’m hopping through 3 switches and it’s very slow. With all 25 running with MultiCast it shows over 800 hours left at 1% completed. With 10 at a time it’s taking about 10 hours.

Is there any way to limit the number of systems it will deploy to at a time?

Thanks

• Can I install Fog on one network and move it to another?

Hey Guys,

I need to install Fog at my office, which uses a 192.168.1.1 network, then move it to a network that uses a 10.89.1.1.

During the Fog install, when it asks for the IP address of the Fog Server, can I just tell it the IP number of the other network? Will it work when I move the box to the different location?

Thanks

• Running Task not showing on main Home Dashboard

Hey guys,

I just started a Multicast Deploy on 22 machines in a PC lab. If I go to Tasks > Active Tasks I can see that all 22 say “In Progress”

But on the Home screen, the System Activity Graph shows Active:0, Queued:0 and Free:10

Is this normal?

• RE: Dell OptiPlex 780 will not upload image

afmrick,

Thanks for the help. I downloaded and tried kernel 3.2.4 and 3.3.3 but it did not help.

I did remove the ATI graphics card and just used the onboard and it worked just fine on the 780. I was able to upload the image and am now deploying it to a different 780 without removing the ATI card. I’m seeing the same errors and the “static screen” but the progress on the Fog dashboard says it’s running.

So whenever it says it’s finished and I confirm that it worked, I can then figure out how to deploy the image to all 90 Pc’s.

Thanks again.

Hey guys,

I just started using Fog today and am trying to upload my first image.

The Dell box is a OptiPlex 780 running Windows 7 64bit.
It has a ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics Card and a Intel 82567LM-3 Gigabit NIC.

I have it booting via PXE and am able to select “Preform Full Host Registration and Inventory” from the Fog menu.
I have installed the Fog Service and have completed the FogPrep.

After the Host Inventory starts I get the following errors…

I did complete a successful upload and deploy on an older Dell GX280 that worked perfectly.

I would assume this has something to do with the graphics card in the 780. I have about 90 of these boxes to reimage and would love to start using Fog.

Thanks guys.
