if you want to delete the whole directory, try

    rm -r /images

maybe you need to put a “sudo” in front of it.

FOG may try to rename the computer at the end of imaging if quick rename is enabled. It does this by editing the registry from Linux. Otherwise the FOG service checks the current name of the machine against the registered name in FOG and changes it in windows shortly after boot up. FOG 0.32 will also auto join to the domain if configured properly. It’s all built into the hostnamechanger module of the FOG client.

Google “ubuntu 12.04 kernel upgrade” and see what you get.

Nope - plenty of disk space - 2TB currently holding one lonesome image. It starts after about 8 seconds, long pause then jumps to 11 seconds (or so) and upload speed drops, then jumps to 16 seconds, long pause, speed drops - does several times, then very long pause and I get the above message.

This is good info, Michael. I appreciate it when some people do the extra research that is needed to identify the cause of problems.

Let’s hope this will lead to better partition table handling in FOG, so that FOG can handle GPT as well as MBR. I believe this is one of the major shortcomings of FOG these days.

Might be late in this post. I just recently tried installing FOG on CentOS 6.2. To get htmldoc to pass, you need to download/install the latest latest rpm for the OS.

I got around that by using the poweroff program found here:

    http://users.telenet.be/jbosman/applications.html

It’s no longer being developed but it works perfectly on win 2k / xp.

Have not tested it with vista / 7

Edit: I should mention that I use the auto-poweroff feature and that if you have a domain controller to use that to try to shutdown the computer(s).

If you have modified it from the original, just make up a new one and change all the necessary locations where it is stored, including the user account on the server.
Are able to join computers to the domain and into the default “computers” container? If so, did you make sure the user account has been delegated rights to add/remove/manage computer accounts in the PISD Computers container?

I think you can put the OU in double quotes or escaped double quotes, such as “OU=PISD Computers”,DC=pisd,DC=us OR “OU=PISD Computers,DC=pisd,DC=us”
Yes, FOG has been working fine for a while now, I was just changing the default OU for it to add new computers. FOG server would not save and text in that field that contained quotation marks, so I was thinking of trying \OU=PISD Computers,DC=pisd,DC=us and see what happens.

djm79, I will try that and it IS using the internet for some reason (the client machine). I have a real-time bandwidth monitor and as soon as the deployment begins the graph spikes (pretty much triples) and begins using 21Mb/s with the client’s IP being the culprit. I’ve only tried imaging from the same location (my office). Network misconfiguration? I’ll try at another location and/or hook the client & server directly to a switch and go from there.

We’re calling the company we outsourced running the wires and installed the switches in the buildings to see if they would know of any reason before I get my hands dirty into uncharted territory.

chad, I know! It’s killing me not knowing why this is happening pulls and handful of hair out.

Thanks for all the help - I’ll report back with my solution as soon as I find out the problem. Thanks again guys.

What is your normal data transfer rate through the IPSec tunnel using FTP, outside of FOG. If it’s slow doing a normal FTP, HTTP, or SMB file transfer from site to site, then you might try troubleshooting it from a VPN IPSec performance angle instead of FOG.

So after a while, I found a solution.

Before installing the OS, I wipe (normal, not fast) the DD with fog advanced task, next I installed XP + sysprep + deploy.

The image works perfectly on 5 PC (in multicast)

I get that behavior also. I just search for * and they all show up, and from that point on, they all show up. Wierd…

Snap-ins run in the context of the FOG Service user. Which I believe runs as the system user by default. Snap-ins themselves do not add anything to the c:\fog.log. The snap-in manager may add when a snap-in is executed, but I’m not sure.

While just calling the exe with no path may work now, it’s not the safest approach to take. Try using your system variables if you don’t want to hard code the path. %systemroot%, %comspec%, %windir%, etc.
