• RE: Multicasting Issues

I had actually done all 3 of those things with no luck. I ended up getting the root MySQL account password removed and updated the files again to use root with no password and all of the sudden, everything worked.

• RE: Multicasting Issues

I also have teamed NICs, I don’t know if that would cause an issue or not.
I am using a Dell PowerEdge 2800 running FOG 0.32 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 and the 2 builtin adapters. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, I can provide you with any additional information that you need to assist in troubleshooting.

• Multicasting Issues

I have tried the solutions that I can find on this forum, and I cannot get multicasting to work. I have verified that the 2 config files are set properly, and I have no issues with unicast, the web interface, or even accessing the mysql database from the machine itself. Yet, I still get
Failed to connect to database server, will try again in next iteration.
in my multicast log files. Anyone have any ideas on where to go next?

• RE: Error installing fog .32 on fedora: cannot start service nfs

I also had to disable selinux and the firewall in addition to the steps provided in the post from sam-white to get it to install properly. After I did all of those steps, everything worked fine and I have been using that server for about a month now.

• RE: Feature Request: 'Rename Host in FOG database' option on the PXE menu

I would absolutely love to have that feature as I name my machines in a similar fashion. There have been times when I have deployed a previously decommissioned machine to find out while trying to register that it is already in the database.

• RE: Dell OptiPlex 790 in loop

I had to use the chainloading artice that BryceZ posted a link to for that model to work. I was getting the infinite booting loop as well

• RE: Kernal 3.2.4?

I find it easier to just sudo the moving and renaming commands to get the job done instead of changing the permissions

move the new kernel in place
sudo mv /WHERE/YOUR/DOWNLOAD/IS/SAVED/kernelfilename /tftpboot/fog/kernel

rename the old kernel
sudo mv /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage.old

rename the new kernel
sudo mv /tftpboot/fog/kernel/kernelfilename /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage

• RE: What do you have FOG running on?

fog 0.32, Fedora 16
Dell PowerEdge 2800
2x 3.0GHz Dual Core Xenon
4GB RAM
4x 73GB 10,000rpm HDDs in RAID 5

Network is mostly 10/100 with select switches slowly being upgraded to 10/100/1000 to match the backbone.

99% of workstations are running Windows XP (remainder is Windows 7)

Currently have about 500 machines used with FOG and a couple hundred that I still rely on ghost to image until I get around to building a custom kernel with all of the appropriate drivers.
