It does work, thanks Tom! Also, the normal default printers returned without having to set them all one by one.

@Scott-B Just a suggestion but - it’s not always a good thing to update… Tom is trying a few things right now, and you might wanna go back to the version you came from lol.

The devs do their best to make every revision a good one, and do appreciate the bug reports, but you also need to understand that using FOG Trunk involves some risk and you accept this risk when you use FOG Trunk. Patience is key when reporting bugs.

Of course and I understand, was just providing feedback.

That worked Tom. I changed the “FOG_MEMORY_LIMIT” under fog settings to 512 and I was able to pull a backup of the DB. Thank you!

I would check out /opt/fog/.fogsettings
The file is hidden so you will need to show hidden files ctrl+h
Checking my settings I do not see a fog user as a local db user. it will use root by default or a user that you specified during install

Hope that helps

Hello,

I am very excited to be upgraded to the builds, from 1.2 - but I am having the same error. It seems the thread died with a solution if you ar
e behind a proxy, but both Scott and I are not. First, I was aiming for using btsync, but I am running into a permissions error - appears to be btsync itself, something in the config file I found here: https://github.com/tuxpoldo/btsync-deb/issues/182 . I am going to circle back to that error. For now, I used the wget and extracted the tarball. The installer found all of my old settings, but I am stuck adding a repository.

I am running FOG 1.2 on a Debian machine. I am stuck at

Oh, that’s an FTP issue. See this article: http://fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Troubleshoot_FTP

Most likely it’s credentials / permissions related…

I’ll see what I can do, where it does something similar to how image association or location association is done. It basically just adds the info based on if all the hosts in the group have the same data. If so, it display’s that in the list, but for multiple items, this is rather difficult to accomplish programmatically, so I’ll see what I can do, but don’t hold your breath too long okay?

What kind of switches do you have? Do you have VoIP? Do you have other tftp servers?

On the switches within your environment, do you have Spanning Tree Protocol turned off as recommended? Do you have portfast enabled for cisco switches?
If I want to use a different kernel how do I go about that? I downloaded “Kernel.TomElliott.3.14.2.64” from the Fog Project page, but I don’t know what to do with it from there.
How did you download the kernel?

If you did it from the gui, and saved the name as bzImage, FOG automatically will be using that kernel. If you saved the kernel as a different name, you would need to change the kernel you’re using from FOG Settings to that of the name of the name you saved it as.

If you downloaded the kernel directly from sourceforge, you would need to copy it to your fog server in /var/www/{FOGWEBDIR}/service/ipxe/

The easiest method would be to save it as bzImage after making a backup of the current bzImage.

We have upgraded to Fog 1.1 with very little trouble. I was using the PXE boot to load a few disk-less systems. Since he change in Fog PXE boot as changed a bit it seems to be going to the httpd for the boot image. How can i add a 01-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx file to get my network boot systems back up and running. I’m not familiar with working of the new setup. I am hoping its something easy. or if you can point me in the right direction.

I just copied the old PXE files to the /tftpboot/ and made sure not to write over any of the new files.
I should have played with it more before i posted.

Thanks again for all you guys have done with the Fog project.

that’s possible… but please let’s focus on 0.33 working before adding stuff 🙂
It could be done by using syslinux to boot the init.gz + kernel of FOG, and modifying a bit its code to tell it to look for a file on the disk rather than on a server… interesting…

I wouldn’t be opposed to letting users put in a primary user, other tag 1, and other tag 2. I get frustrated sometimes when I can’t put this in through the webUI because an inventory job has not been run yet, either as a separate job, or as part of the registration process.

This could be as simple as displaying the labels and blanks and update button even if no related record exists in the inventory table.
