My current setup is that each snapin is actually a batch file that calls a generically named installer package. That way I can copy over new packages to the server without having to rebuild snapins inside of FOG.

• How do I Deploy the .img uploaded via the PXE Menu?

There are multiple methods to “deploy” an image to.

The first, and most notorious method to deploy the image is to schedule the task through the FOG Web GUI. Simple login to the FOG GUI and choose the Host management page. Locate your host either by searching or from the list of hosts, select basic task and choose deploy, confirm and you’re set.

The second method is to perform, more or less, the same thing from the Task Page. On the task page, choose list of all hosts, or search for your host and click the down arrow to schedule the task.

The third method is to use a group to deploy the tasks. Using basically the same steps from the host management page, make sure your host is within the relevant group and deploy the task.

The last method, from the top of my head, is as you would like. From the PXE Menu, choose Quick Image. It will load into the the init file and request a username and password. Use the username and password you use to login to the FOG Web GUI. It should schedule the task and reboot the system. Once rebooted your task should begin.

Hope this helps.

Depending on the systems manufacturer, there may be a utility that you can run on the machines to change the BIOS boot settings from within windows.

Yep just switched to:
FOG_TFTP_PXE_KERNEL == bzImage32
FOG_PXE_BOOT_IMAGE == init_32.xz

and worked without issue.

Update:
crap looks like r1439 has fixed this. With this update you no longer need to select the 32bit or 64bit image.

It will be best if you can back up your images, groups, and host lists, then do a complete uninstall. From what I’ve seen even if you get an ‘upgrade’ install to work from 0.32 to 0.33 at this stage, it will be a mess and have a lot of leftovers. After you install 0.33 you should be able to port your images back in, and import your lists. You will also have to recreate your PXE menu. Perhaps before 0.33 goes release Tom will add a built in upgrade, but considering how different the new system is, it might be better for everyone to only grab what they need themselves.

And as for your OS, it should still work, but I would strongly urge your to use a newer release if at all possible.

I realize your message is meant to be “cute”, but this is what is wrong with this community!

We don’t mind troubleshooting and helping the find the solution, but the more time we spend spoon feeding capable users takes away from time we could spend fixing bugs.

We spend a number of hours here on our own free will because we LOVE FOG and it’s capabilities, we spend a lot of time making entries in the Wiki so that others can solve their issue.

Please use the search feature.

no x) ,

In fact, i’ll boot on the network then, i’ll deploy in ram a linux kernel with an initramfs.

Then with my kernel and busybox I retrive the serial number of the USB stick and I send it to the server to compare it.

Each SN corresponds to an OS. the SN will tell which OS will be deployed. So that part is done. but in order to deploy the OS I need to tell FOG to deploy that OS. But I don’t know how I can do it without the web interface or the PXE menu

But I also though to do post request on php files

I hate to agree with him but I have made a number of walkthroughs that are easy enough to follow that even a person that has never used linux feels comfortable. Please look in the Tutorials section of the forum!

it’s a beta, so there may be bugs etc.

if your worried, use 0.32 or hire someone who knows what they’re doing and let them worry about it 🙂
