@Wayne-Workman That seems to have done it. Thanks! Is there anything I can do to prevent this crap data, or reduce it?

Random Hosts are added to New group
Server
- FOG Version: 1.3.0 *OS: Ubuntu 14.01
Client
- Service Version: 0.11.7
- OS: Windows
Description
I should have submitted this before the official 1.3.0 release, so I apologize for the tardiness of this report. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but whenever I go to search for hosts for a specific lab or room in my district (using the host search tab) and use the select all check box near the top of the list to create a new group, it seems to add some random hosts when I create the group. I can provide logs/screens next week, but my desired group of 25 hosts in a lab turns into a group of 100 hosts, 25 of which are the desired members and 75 seemingly random hosts that were recently registered and imaged.

Future of FOG
Again guys, congratulations on the official release of FOG 1.3.0! I may be jumping the gun on asking this, but is there going to be a trunk/beta channel for future versions of FOG? Though my knowledge on software development is very limited, I like to beta test to help in the only way I can.
Please enjoy the holidays!

RE: FOG 1.3.0 Officially Released
Congratulations everyone! I’m actually going to miss trunk/svn/RC’s in a weird way lol.
-
RE: Starting a donation project for FOG and wanting to gauge general interest
I’d also be interested in buying one

RE: Organizations Using FOG
@Scott-B, small world!
Organization Name: Shaker Heights City School District
Location: Shaker Heights, OH
Approximate Number of Systems: 1000 Desktops and 1500 Laptops/Netbooks/Surfaces (Educated Guess)
How Long: Version 0.29 era
Logo: Not sure if I’m allowed to distribute it (got scolded recently for using the school’s mascot for the default Windows 7 login screen haha…) -
RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Wayne-Workman
We had one sitting on the desk putting it through any stress test we could think of for days at a time. To date we are unable to replicate the random shutdowns. -
RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Wayne-Workman
I will check if there is anything weird, but I don’t use any scheduled shutdowns or power management settings. We have exhausted all other factors through weeks of troubleshooting. The only affected models are Optiplex 5040’s. Older PC’s and other equipment run great on the same strips and outlets. The strips used are cheap and old. No surge protection on most of them. We’ve also replaced the PC in the same room twice to no avail. That is the only room we are currently still having issues. We’ve tried BIOS updates, latest drivers, different video adapters, re-building the image from scratch, etc. It keeps me up at night worrying about the stability of the new most common model of PCs in our district. -
RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Joe-Schmitt said in FOG Client stops reporting & working:
@michael_f @Wayne-Workman @Hanz a patch has been developed and verified for this issue. It will be released with
0.11.6
(along with a few other new features) once release candidate testing finishes for the client.If that’s the case, this can be marked as solved. Thank you everyone! It appears that most of the random shutdowns in my district were caused by some sort of dirty power situation. We’ve discovered Daisy-Chained powerstrips on problem PC’s (GRRRRR) and in one case we think the actual wiring in the room (the building and wiring is really old) may be causing random shutdowns. We are installing a mini UPS there tomorrow. Just out of curiosity does anyone else have random shutdowns on Dell Optiplex 5040’s? It may be that they are very sensitive to dirty power, or maybe a design flaw… We pulled our hair out over this for weeks on this.

RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
I have none of the KB Windows updates, no flash player update, and my acrobat reader DC update version is 15.020.20039.
-
RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Wayne-Workman there are quite a few more updates on my side. I exported a nice html list of them but am unable to upload anything besides a picture to the forums. The list is too long for a screenshot. I have a csv of them also. Let me know how to proceed.

RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Wayne-Workman I have the utmost confidence in the team. I patiently await the results.

RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Joe-Schmitt This is the very end of the log in question in hex (no permissions to upload the file and too many lines for the full dump in the code window).

@Wayne-Workman @Joe-Schmitt They are configured to never go to sleep or hibernate through group policy. Give me a moment for the settings file.

RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Joe-Schmitt There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which clients this happens to. I am willing to give you any logs you need because this is becoming more and more widespread in the district. Does this explain random reboots?

RE: FOG Client log reporting old RC and odd behavior
@Wayne-Workman It is blank. I take it that’s bad…
