I didn’t test this with physical hardware it was just something I seen when I was testing FOG in VM’s before moving to physical hardware and thanks for the addon there that now I know it will do the same on physical hardware.

That bit about little submitted code is really worrying. From surfing the forums I got the impression that Chuck and Jian were still quite active but I guess getting down to coding, or at least submitting code, hasn’t been happening much.

I’m also really surprised that the donations are so minimal. Then again, we haven’t donated anything. But still, with the value that FOG brings, I assumed that the donations would be flying in. Hmmm… Maybe some crowd-funding is needed.

Thanks for some transparency on this Bryce. We’ll be in touch.

Hi there Russell, if you were talking to me then I’ve figured out my problem, it was related to a badly written program that changes the startup sound for windows 7. I never should have put in it was only for a laugh, and was meant to take it out. I figured it out by rebuilding the image one things at a time, process of elimination. I got it on the 3rd or 4th time as I had a feeling it was the culprit.

I want to try and help you out but don’t fully understand your question. You talk about login time and then about imaging. I don’t understand why you would need to turn off pxe booting. If these are two separate questions here is my solution.
Wireless login time:
I’m not sure what kind of wireless solution you are using but you will need a high quality access point(commercial/enterprise) to handle that many connections. Otherwise you would need multiple access points in the same location. Other than that I can’t think of any ways to modify the login process.
Strategies for imaging:
Laptops would obviously need to be imaged through a wire. Most laptops don’t need set for pxe booting. If they receive a wake on lan signal they automatically try to boot from the network. If yours don’t then could simply hit f12 or whatever your network boot shortcut key is. Finally if you do set it to boot from the network first, then the hard drive, after you have imaged the laptops they are no longer connected to a physical wire, therefore, PXE booting will see it has no connection and just skip to the next device which is your hard drive. So basically I’m saying there is no reason to turn pxe booting on and off.

David, that process does work but I beleive the folder name is just Default and its a hidden folder as well. Also if you need to lock down some settings abit more you can always run “gpedit.msc” on each computer but this would be fairly time consuming. In Windows 7 you can also set up a network printer IP as a local printer and it will be available to all users on that computer (much easier than copying to default user profile the XP way).
