Or possibly virtual network/adapter issues preventing the fog server from from communicating with the host OS, because in the first picture I see you’re using Virtual Box. But I tend to still think you’re not putting in the fog server’s IP address during client install.

      it was unsuccessfully …
Can you give more information than, it was unsuccessful? Perhaps some log information? Maybe your mysql log file? Maybe the apache error logs?

How does it fail, does it give any messages of any use?
I also don’t want to step on any toes but this type of oddness is another reason I avoid distros like Ubuntu for servers now.
Ubuntu isn’t all bad, the older revisions are great… I would avoid anything 12+ though just my personal opinion. I am VERY unhappy with the direction Ubuntu is heading, but it is REALLY versatile and easy to set up. It caters to a crowd of people who are not versed in linux but still want to dabble. Anymore it’s become a hodge podge mix, but the older revisions were solid. I have always been a fan of the debian releases.

I know this doesn’t look well coming from the Ubuntu guy, but I would avoid Ubuntu as well 😞

They’re configured under FOG Configuration->FOG Settings. FOG_TFTP_PXE_KERNEL should be set to bzImage32 and FOG_PXE_BOOT_IMAGE should be set to init_32.xz

      They’re stored in {fogwebdir}/service/ipxe/

      Hope this helps.

it’s a beta, so there may be bugs etc.

if your worried, use 0.32 or hire someone who knows what they’re doing and let them worry about it 🙂

      Hi Tom,

after I have now removed the broken network-hub and now again use the FOG Version 0.32 , everything seems to work very satisfactorily .

I have learned over the past few days a lot about Linux and FOG.
If, nevertheless, again if problems arise , I am back.

Once again many thanks for the support with my first steps with FOG and friendly greetings.
Hi all,
what should I enter in the login GUI under FOG Management Login? Which username, what password?

Why is this not better documented? No explanations on the wiki, somehow I’m too stupid to find.

You could show the default settings but the first time the GUI … just as a suggestion.

      regards
      Grandma Voss
What Jaymes says above is absolutely correct. You are in charge of the server. It’s a web based applications. There are some assumptions to be made with this.

To login, if you haven’t changed the password previously, you use the user fog and the password password

To get to the GUI is your fog server’s IP address (example: 10.6.22.3) and typically /fog/ directly after. So in the address bar you would type: 10.6.22.3/fog

It should, if it’s a fresh install, ask you to create the database. Once created, it will take you to the login page. There you would type the information above.

As it is specific to an individual’s server information, there isn’t likely to be much “documentation” as you request because there’s no way for us to know what combination of ip’s, server roots, or environment’s.

What do you suggest for documenting this? You going to ensure that every person who performs an install gets the pertinent information everywhere? What about security of this information? You want everybody in your organization knowing how, and what credentials, to login to your system?

      Just food for thought.
