@Wayne-Workman Verify spanning tree portfast mode (Cisco) or admin-edge-port (HP) is enabled on the port(s) you’re connecting the computers to.

RE: Kernel for Ubuntu 64 bit
@Tom If you’re going to run multiple DHCP servers (I assume you’re trying to get some HA out of it), then you really should be using the built in DHCP Failover setup that Windows provides. It’s far easier to manage than what you’ve got now.
I’ll also note that you should really consider moving DHCP services off of a DC.

RE: Win 10 New Client - Service Crashing after Imaging
@Jbob Looking through the system event log, it actually looks like the service is failing to start in the first place. After the computer imaged, it appears the name was updated successfully by the FOG service and the computer restarted. After that, the service failed to start.
There are two event entries, one is event 7009 - A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the FOGService to connect. And then immediately after, event 7000 - The FOGService failed to start - the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

RE: Win 10 New Client - Service Crashing after Imaging
@Tom-Elliott The image this is coming from was not joined to AD (it’s in audit mode with sysprep being run immediately before capture). I did wonder if perhaps something was going on because the name of the machine was not changing from the image but was being asked to join the domain, but I’ve had success and failures with both scenarios.

Win 10 New Client - Service Crashing after Imaging
Hi all,
Working with the new client (0.9.11) on Win 10 (Enterprise version 1511). I’m seeing an issue where after imaging is completed, sysprep is done, etc., the client service seems to crash and does not recover until the computer is restarted. This only happens intermittently, and nothing seems completely obvious to me in the client log file (excerpts below where a critical error is thrown). Once this happens, if I manually start the service again or restart the computer, it works fine and renames/joins AD.
Any thoughts?

RE: Windows 10 Black Screen
@Wayne-Workman @Vanlue-IT-Guy KMS would be easiest for both Windows and Office. Then everything will activate on its own and you don’t have to worry about it through FOG or any other method. Office 2016 is very good about quickly and silently using KMS (Office 2013 sometimes took a considerable amount of time to do it in the background, often times alerting the user a few times along the way).

RE: Multiple fog servers
Take a look at the Location Plugin - https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Plugins
It allows you to have a “master” FOG server that you could point all clients to (in terms of the FOG client installed on the computers), but have them image from the server at their building. If you have a computer at your office for repair, you could also switch its location while it’s there to image and then switch it back once it’s returned to the building. We use this plugin very successfully with 24 sites, although we only have two FOG servers total since our WAN links are all 1Gb or better.

RE: Is this a thing? Adding Option 003 and Option 012 on windows dhcp fog server reservation options
@Arrowhead-IT It’s definitely worked for test VM’s that are used for image testing, but it’s also a more general comment for ESXi in general. Worth checking your server guests to ensure they’re all on vmxnet3.

RE: Migrate PM to VM 1.2.0
@Wayne-Workman Thanks Wayne. That’s just the info I was looking for.
At this point, is the built-in config export/import not really needed anymore, or has it not been updated to handle the new CA/SSL pieces? I’m fine with your method since I’m not looking to migrate “bad” settings/config info, but I do use the location plugin and I’m not sure your method would move that data over.

RE: Migrate PM to VM 1.2.0
@Wayne-Workman Have you gotten anywhere on a Wiki article on this topic? I found this thread while looking for the best and most up to date info on doing a FOG server migration. I’ve been looking for the best option to migrate from an existing Ubuntu VM running trunk to a new Ubuntu VM running trunk but don’t want to break anything given FOG runs its own CA now.

And sadly, after trying to boot a different vm a few minutes ago, same esxi server and same type of virtual network adapter E1000 as the other, it took a few tries again to get an address in the initial pxe boot.
You should really be using VMxnet 3 as the adapter for every guest on ESXi. VMware does not actually recommend that you use the E1000.

RE: Cortana/Windows Search breaks in default profile
@Arrowhead-IT Thanks, I’ll certainly take a look at all of those. I really wish MS would just include some PS cmdlets to do this. It would be so simple to have a logic script to do exactly what we wanted then.

RE: Cortana/Windows Search breaks in default profile
@Arrowhead-IT I’ll give your script a try. I think the issue for me is that with our current solution, we can adjust what’s pinned on the taskbar by updating the login script and copying it to machines. With the default profile, that isn’t the case. It’s once and done for the user.

RE: Cortana/Windows Search breaks in default profile
This is a bit of a related topic on Win 10 profile customization - in the past we used the copy profile option in the sysprep unattend file combined with a VBS script to add/remove apps pinned to the taskbar. This script no longer works in Win 10.
What are you guys doing in terms of the taskbar? I see you mention the IE stuff in appdata, but I don’t believe that covers everything (like the Win Store icon for instance).

Confirming this same issue with build 5790 on Ubuntu 14.04. Fails the first time through, works fine the second time.

RE: SVN 3594 - New hosts have no services enabled
@Tom-Elliott Tried updating to 3675. Installer hung up on php5-fpm for a while, but eventually said OK and moved on. Prompted for the DB upgrade which failed. 3675-DBErrors.docx

RE: SVN 3594 - New hosts have no services enabled
@Tom-Elliott Thanks Tom, I was hoping you would say that.
Is there a simple way to enable all services on ALL hosts after updating? There are quite a few that were imaged the last few days.

SVN 3594 - New hosts have no services enabled
SVN 3594 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. When a new host is registered, no services are enabled. The services are enabled globally on the server. Enabling them on the host and saving does work.

RE: Automatic hardware detection & driver installs in FOG
@giejo63 I’m running into the same issues. I have a sysprepped Win 7 image that has the C:\drivers location set to look for drivers. I have the drivers on the FOG server in /images/drivers and the scripts are executable. The postdownload file is set to run the script, and I have SetupComplete.cmd on the image set as described in Andrew’s wiki page.
Anyone have some ideas?
