You should create a new image under “Image Management” and then assign it to your host. Do a capture task and it’ll upload to this new image.

Surface Pro 4 Type Cover
I’m not able to get the SP4 Type Cover working with ipxe7156.efi. If keyboard input is required (such as hitting enter after removing/plugging in the USB ethernet adapter), nothing happens. This works fine with the SP3 Type Cover on both SP3’s and SP4’s.
Anyone have any suggestions? @Testers @tom-elliott

RE: RC15 - AD settings not set with initial registration
@Tom-Elliott Thanks Tom. I’ll update and confirm.

@Tom-Elliott Perhaps someone on RC16 can confirm. I can’t update right now.

RC15 - AD settings not set with initial registration
Server
- FOG Version: RC15 (5975)
- OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Description
When registering a client for the first time, if you answer “y” to the AD question the settings are not filled in correctly. The OU is completely blank and the username gets a “1” instead of the actual user. Clearing the fields on the host and checking the join box again fills everything in correctly.

RE: RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
@Tom-Elliott I’ll give that a try. Thanks!

RE: RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
@Tom-Elliott Is there a way to make the WiFi MAC be pulled as the primary MAC on the Surface? I just realized inventory only pulled the USB NIC MAC, so when I hook up another Surface it defaults to being registered.

RE: RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
@Tom-Elliott Perfect, thanks Tom!

RE: RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
@Tom-Elliott The host isn’t registered, so no. Do I need to manually register it?

RE: RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
@Tom-Elliott That gets me to “Failed to get an IP via DHCP! Tried on interfaces:”. After a while it says “Press enter to continue” which displays the registration page but it immediately tries to send the registration. Never prompts for name or other info.

RE: Unusual Delete Image Behavior in RC14 (5968+5974)
Also seeing this in RC14 5974.

RC14 - UEFI client never loads registration screen
Server
- FOG Version: RC14 (5974)
- OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Description
I’m trying to register a Surface Pro 4 with RC14. I’m able to PXE boot successfully (using ipxe.efi) and get to the FOG menu. After selecting full registration I see the two lines (bzimage & something else?) with …ok. Screen goes blank and sits there. Registration never loads.

RE: Capturing Windows Server 2016 Standard
@george1421 It’s RTM now. No longer preview.

RE: Recommended guide for Windows 10 image creation (from scratch) ?
@x23piracy Are you keeping all 3 of the “store” apps? “ConnectivityStore”, “StorePurchasesApp” & “WindowsStore”?
I can’t find a clear answer on what of those three (besides “WindowsStore”) is required to make the store functional if we decide to enable it in the future. I’ve also seen it noted that “DesktopAppInstaller” may be needed for some apps to be installed through the store.

RE: Recommended guide for Windows 10 image creation (from scratch) ?
@Scott-Adams Computer Config - Admin Templates - Windows Components - Store - “Disable all apps from Windows Store”. If you enable this, all “modern” apps plus the store will be disabled.
You must be using Enterprise or Education editions to use this (I still don’t know what the difference is between Ent & EDU, so we deploy Ent at our district).

RE: Recommended guide for Windows 10 image creation (from scratch) ?
@george1421 Interesting & good to know. We’re still actively deploying build 1511 and just starting to test 1607 so we haven’t seen any issues with WSUS patching 1511 so far.
-
RE: Recommended guide for Windows 10 image creation (from scratch) ?
@adukes40 I’ll just mention that you can disable the Store and all “modern” apps with a single group policy setting. You may not need to go the drastic route of deploying LTSB if your primary concern is access to the Store & modern apps.

RE: Recommended guide for Windows 10 image creation (from scratch) ?
@george1421 If you use WSUS then updates will not force themselves on the machines unless you approve them. The “Windows Update for Business” stuff only applies to non-WSUS deployments where you’re controlling Windows Update only with group policy and no WSUS.

RE: Reset local Windows account password (1.3.0+)
@Wayne-Workman That’s the whole point - there should not be a single password set on all the machines. I realize this is not the point of your thread, but I just wanted to have this here so people know LAPS exists and is the preferred solution.
