    • RE: SVN 3582 - Quick Image Broken

Sorry Tom - long day, wasn’t thinking.

I just tried it on a machine that gave the error and checked the Apache error & access logs. I don’t see anything in either log from this machine. I’m looking in /var/log/apache2 at error.log and access.log - is there somewhere else I should be looking?

    • SVN 3582 - Quick Image Broken

SVN 3582 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

When I boot a previously registered/imaged host, the FOG boot menu loads correctly and shows the host as registered with the proper name. If I hit Quick Image, the menu reloads and shows that the host is not registered.

If I go through the web UI and do a basic tasks - download with the same host, the task runs correctly.

@Tom-Elliott You’re right. What I really wanted is the “Host List”. When I run that, the page loads but the export (for CSV or PDF) does not work. Apache error log below.

    • RE: SVN 3582 - Hosts and Users Report Doesn't Load

@Tom-Elliott I set it to 512 and was able to get the “List All Hosts” page to load. I’ve gone the whole way up to 3072 and the Hosts and Users report still won’t load. At this point I can’t allocate anymore without killing my host’s RAM. Any tricks to make this not use so much memory, or am I stuck?

    • RE: SVN 3582 - Hosts and Users Report Doesn't Load

I do, yes. But all of the hosts are there - it’s not like they’re gone from the DB. If I do a search for XYZ-LAB, I’ll get back the 30 machines that are in that lab. It’s only when trying to do something where ALL the hosts have to be returned it seems to fall apart.

    • SVN 3582 - Hosts and Users Report Doesn't Load

SVN 3582 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - when I try to run the Hosts and Users report, I get a mostly blank page with the report title and the Excel/PDF icons. Downloading either gives me a 1KB file with no data.

Perhaps related - under host management if I try to list all hosts I just get a blank page. We do have ~8,000 hosts registered.

Updated to SVN 3565 and now I can’t login. Rolled back to previous snapshot (3563) and ran the upgrade again - same issue with the standard “Invalid Login” message. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

@Tom-Elliott Checked through everything and it’s all working. Didn’t make any changes since everything matched what the Wiki says it should be.

What should the permissions be on the /log directory/files? Perhaps that’s where there’s an issue.

Running SVN 3563 (this has been happening for the last few revisions, not sure when it started) on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. The log viewer shows “No data to read” with nothing selectable in the File dropdown. The actual log files in /opt/fog/log/ are being written to successfully.

If the HostnameChanger is globally disabled, and HostnameChanger isn’t working, could it be because it’s globally disabled?

Sorry Tom, that was a typo. I just confirmed again that it is not disabled globally. I’ve tried disabling/enabling it at the host and server level as well with no luck.

    • New Fog Client 0.8.4 - Hostname Changer not working

I’m having an issue with the new client (0.8.4) changing hostnames. FOG SVN 3554 is installed.

In the client log, I see this each time it runs:

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      --------------------------------HostnameChanger-------------------------------
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
       6/12/2015 2:07 PM Client-Info Version: 0.8.4
       6/12/2015 2:07 PM HostnameChanger Running...
       6/12/2015 2:07 PM Middleware::Communication URL: http://172.16.200.10/fog/service/servicemodule-active.php?moduleid=hostnamechanger&mac=A0:A8:CD:B5:91:C7|14:58:D0:18:FA:B1||00:00:00:00:00:00:00:E0&newService=1
6/12/2015 2:07 PM Middleware::Communication Response: Module is disabled on the host
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The module IS enabled for the host, and it is not globally disabled. Any ideas?

      Thanks!

    • RE: Ideal FOG Setup

@MRCUR @Wayne-Workman Thanks for the edit Wayne. That answers everything for me.

I do hope when 1.3.0 launches, the old client is still supported as it is in the current SVN’s. That way I can work on removing the legacy client from existing machines and installing the new client. Otherwise it’s going to be a long time until many machines get the new client as we do not reimage all that quickly with 8,000+ hosts.
