FOG Trunk fully supports windows 8.1

Here are some pointers, but some of these may not be needed anymore because @Tom-Elliott has made some changes specifically to fix some of the Win8 issues that past versions of FOG had.

You might also peek at this for handing out UEFI boot files and Legacy boot files at the same time: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/BIOS_and_UEFI_Co-Existence

@nengelhardt Export your images and host list, build up a new Fedora 22 server build, install FOG trunk, and import your hosts and images, then recreate your “image definitions”. Then set your DHCP option 066 to reflect the (possibly) new IP address.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to run in parallel for a little while. Although many people don’t just have spare servers or powerful desktops laying around to dedicate to a new FOG server… But if you did, it’d be as easy as mounting the remote NFS share on the new FOG server to a temporary directory, and then copying over your images. The host export bit is just done in the web interface under Host Management. You may not even need or want to do this if you have only a few machines registered.

If you don’t have spare hardware laying around, you’ll need to connect to a remote windows share and just copy your images there (recursively). You would then later connect to that share via Fedora 22 Server and copy them back (CLI recursively).

Here is an article on the various ways to move to FOG Trunk. You don’t need any pre-existing version of fog to install FOG trunk… The article name is deceiving but it was written for the needs of the many (upgrading). https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Upgrade_to_trunk

We wanted to know what your server version was b/c there are may things you must do if you are moving from 0.32 to 1.x.x. So many things there is a nice wiki for it.

I guess I haven’t as of yet. I keep rebuilding my images yearly and deploy soon after they are finished. You could always ftp them over to the “master” server before connecting the storage nodes. then just create the images in the web gui. as long as you drop the images in /images and name them exactly the same then you should be ok.
You may also want to export your hosts and export you database. This will get you back in action faster.

To OP I found that setting PIGZ to 0 actually slowed my transfer rate down significantly. I currently have it set at 3 and we’re happy with 5GB/min downloads. I can imagine setting it at 6 may also be slower than 3 though I haven’t tested that. I also know that NIC driver configs have everything to do with the speed though I know you said same OS so maybe there’s nothing there, maybe.

Having the same problem. Images upload and download nicely, just no luck with getting hosts to reboot with instant image task scheduled. Reboot service is enabled everywhere and client installed. WoL is not working either, even though it’s enabled in bios and Windows drivers.

Ok, so this image took 15 minutes and compressed down to 19gb so it is working.

I think it was just that image I was using. On to the next!

Thank you guys for all the help. I really appreciate it.
