    @Wayne-Workman ahem @Testers aren’t welcome too?

Have you tried the FogApi powershell module? It's pretty cool IMHO

Apologies - it slipped my mind. Of course @Testers are invited.

I wish there was a @Everyone or @Community tag lol. Or the ability to send out a message or email to every registered user lol!

Saturday because - when I’m at work I need to be working or at least able to work at a moment’s notice. I also want to give the hangout my full attention and don’t want to be distracted. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!

I wasn’t certain I was going to make it anyways, but sorry I missed the show.

I’d love to see this become a regular monthly or even weekly event.

If anyone has trouble selling this to boss folk as a good use of work-time, consider telling them it’s an ideal chance for a one-on-one knowledge transfer between you, the vendor and other technical folks.

Anyways, I hope another is scheduled soon so you can see the wall behind my head too.

Wasn’t aware this has been screen captured. Awesome! Thanks heaps for this session @Wayne-Workman. I am just watching the rest of it.

The idea of having a FOG OS seems interesting as we wouldn’t need to worry about all the issues we have with the different distros out there. But there are two things I wanna give you to think about. There are organizations that don’t want or even don’t allow to install an OS not matching what they usually have. Some only use RHEL for example and wouldn’t install any debian based or home brew system.
The other thing I am wondering about is all the different hardware out there. Currently we only need to sort out all the distro/software hickups. But what if we provide the OS installer. Then we need to worry about all those hardware install issues… Sure we could start and build up from let’s say e.g. the debian base system/installer. But then we “caught” in the debian world. Sure this will be a never ending discussion… 😄

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

To the idea of a dedicated FOG OS, can you imagine the resources required for that? Wanna watch Tom implode?

                              Why reinvent the wheel?

                              Scope creep …

@Sebastian-Roth A distribution could possibly just be an option. The installer development could continue. We’ve talked about this before, distributions of course would just be for releases. Also, ready-made VMs are a thought as well. There is an older VM available for download (really older) that was highly popular.

As @joe-schmitt said, bandwidth is a serious concern. At this moment, fogproject.org couldn’t host it. But, as with many distributions, Universities could be mirrors.

@Wayne-Workman Most of the noobs would probably use an fog based distribution, especially if they are not that familiar with linux. I can see if someone was just trying it out and didn’t want to put a lot of effort into the software that they may not like. That is where a fog distribution (akin to freepbx distribution) would be a benefit.

The issue (as I see it) is that we don’t currently have enough people with the skill set to build and maintain a distribution as well as the installer based builds. The next issue would be what host OS do you select? Ubuntu or Centos? I know what I would select, but that doesn’t mean it is the best choice.

When you get into VMs some companies will allow externally created VMs and other won’t for the simple fact you don’t “really” know who built the VM and if they put some hidden back door into the software (the same could be said about a distribution or even the fog installer).

If it was up to me (and its not), I would rather devote the 2 or 3 developers that it would take to manage a VM or distribution and put that manpower to fog development.
