r1059 released to test this new functionality out. Please test and play. You can change the setting under:

FOG Configuration->FOG Settings->FOG PXE Settings->FOG_PIGZ_COMP

Hopefully you’ll enjoy it. The values are between 0 and 9. 0 being the fastest/worst compression rating and 9 being the slowest/best compression rating.
damn your quick. Ask you shall receive 🙂 I will have to wait to get home to my Desktop of DOOM… i can’t even get my mac to mount the images folder when i try to use the private internal network in Fusion

That does fix my problems, sorry it took me so long to respond with positive results. I only use fog once a semester, so sorry for the delay.

I’d recommend for multiboot images use raw instead of multipart. Multipart and and others are more designed for one OS. It’ll take longer but its a bit for bit copy rather than a used data only copy.

That’s because of the two methods in use.

Tftp doesn’t use relative paths to locate the files, but the kernel and boot image consider the actual tftpboot directory (on it’s own) as the root of the file system. They’re not relative technically.

I know this thread is slightly older, but my latest of kernels seems to work with VMWare, and many others I’m sure, SCSI natively. No more having to change to Paravirtualized or anything to upload the image, to reset to the one windows needed to operate properly. Hopefully this helps. It should come with FOG 0.33b and if you’re not feeling good about going down the beta road, try downloading the latest one at: https://mastacontrola.com/fogboot/kernel/bzImage

SITD,

I could tell we had a language barrier.
From what you have stated the apache web server portion of your fog server is working fine.
I am going to share a document with you that I created doing Fog builds.
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=419873F43A535389!3025&authkey=!ANdUmaAeiDiSFk8&ithint=file%2C.docx It takes you step by step through a fog build.
I am not sure with English not being your primary language if it will help at all.
Keep us posted and we will keep doing our best to help you get this project done.

Like Tom said, recovery of the computer inventory is not really a FOG issue, but more of a mysql recovery issue. You’ll need to look on the mysql documentation for how to recover a database from the files. The method depends on which storage engine the database was using. You can probably look at your current database and assume the old one was using the same engine (InnoDB, MyISAM, etc).

after you add a root password to mysql, read the wiki article on updating FOG to use the new password when accessing the database, otherwise FOG may quit working until you update the config files.

Well I used gedit to edit the file as root ofcourse, and was in the settings area in gui… somewhere there it decided a couple of times to change the content of the file. Perhaps it would be nice if one could add the files in the gui instead… But what do you recommend should one rather use ftp klient to transfer the files or is it just a matter of know how and being sure what one is doing? 😉
The one page might have come when I changed the masterpassword… the field bellow the timeout for the boot menu.

Tom,
I followed your advice. I was able to get ‘PrimaryUser’ label on the Host list but I do not know enough about PHP. I inserted sql in there but stiil could not get data from inventory table. I am learning php, I hope that will help.
Thank you,

Thanks but i can’t understand nothing, i look at youtube i read on forum, i made step by step … and when i try to install windows from fog it dosen’t work, i can’t understand what i make wrong.

I have a PC with ubuntu+fog, i put network cable in fog server and then in host PC, without internet connection with no router’s, switches smth pc+cable network to other pc+cable network simple… but it dosen’t work.
I login on Fog i try to register host but my Host PC can’t see dchp boot from FOG.
I need to configure dchp? or to add range ip’s ? … i see in tutorials they don’t make this it’s automatic dchp in fog at install.

PS: i want a standalone server, not part of any other network.

Anyway i don’t want to bother no one with my stupidity.
Thanks anyway for everything.
