@wayne-workman Nothing is wrong with Debian. I use UbuntuStudio16.04 as my FOG server OS at my work. I was just asking the question to see if it would work for my home setup.
Thanks,

@wayne-workman I am also looking at arch linux and have tried it. The only issue that I am not sure on how to resolve within Arch is how to set the wired nic for local traffic/hub traffic and use the wireless nic for internet. I have setup FOG in ubuntu and was able to do this within the network settings. Is this some that is easily done or needs scripting to do?
Thanks,
Reuben
Hello everyone,
Has anyone had experience installing FOG on Solus Linux? I like the look of Solus but didn’t know if FOG could be ran from it.
Thanks,

Would the DNS A record be placed on the FOG Server or on the Domain Controller?
Hello,
I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with Fog Version 7118 Standalone install. Is there a way to have my FOG installation join imaged computers to the Domain? I have wireless, which is attached to the AD network, and wired, which is connected to a private (standalone) network. Is this feasible or is it just not going to happen with a standalone install of FOG?
Thanks,
Reub
@Wayne-Workman Turned Bitlocker off and am still getting the same error.
@Wayne-Workman This is a Dell Venue Pro 11 (5130). It is 64-bit and has Windows 8.1 x64 Pro installed with a Intel Atom CPU Z3795 1.60GHz with 4GB of RAM. The hard drive is a Samsung MCG8GC 50GB and is GPT partitioned and it has BitLocker enabled on the partition. The tablet doesn’t have a wired Network Card so, we bought a dock and the Dock has a ASIX AX88772C adapter.

The attached picture is the error I am getting when I run the Fog Compatibility Test on all the .efi files.

I followed the steps on the following site to reset my user’s password.
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword
From what I have seen, you will need to reset your tftp password and add the username and password in /var/www/fog/lib/fog/Config.class.php
Hope this helps,
Reuben
Hello,
I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Fog 1.2.0 version: 3564 Kernel: 4.0.5. I am trying to image a Dell Venue Pro 11 (5130) x64. I was able to get the Fog boot menu to come up and was going to register the host but it gave me an error of Cannot find HDD on system. I am also using snp.efi to boot the system. I do not have the option to legacy boot on this tablet. Is there something that I am missing on the tablet or server side?
Thanks,
Reuben
I should have picked a better naming convention when I setup the partition and folder. Next time I will name the partition and folders something else. I will know next time to check my fsid’s first to make sure they are different. Thanks for all your help and sorry for the kernel panic with the /images/images/images.
Ok. Found my problem. The problem was the fsid’s in the comments above. The fsid’s need to be different for each line. I changed the fsid’s and it lets me deploy images from the /images, /images/images, and the /images/images/images folders without a problem. I am sorry that the way that I have it setup is confusing but it is working now. Thank all of you that responded.
Thanks,
Reub
When I mounted the partition from my external hard drive the partition name is images and the folder inside of that is also called images. As for the /etc/exports, below is the output.
/images *(ro,sync,no_wdelay,insecure_locks,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=1,subtree_check)
/images/dev *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=2,subtree_check)
/images/images *(ro,sync,no_wdelay,insecure_locks,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=1,subtree_check)
/images/images/dev *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=2,subtree_check)
/images/images/images *(ro,sync,no_wdelay,insecure_locks,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=1,subtree_check)
/images/images/images/dev *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=2,subtree_check)
I think I my see the problem now. Shouldn’t the fsid be different for all of these?
To the best of my knowledge, it was mounted because I could look at the data on it. The images were in /images/images/images. I had all the permissions set exactly like the ones for /images that were set during the fog install. I also had the images pointed to the correct folder to do the images.
I resolved the issue by uninstalling and installing fog again and copying the images to the /images root directory. But the question still remains, why can I not deploy from my external drive when I could deploy from it before I rebuilt my fog server.
I have double and triple checked the image type and os. I am deploying separate images to each model and I did sysprep and included the needed drivers. The only thing different from the plain jane/jim way of setting FOG up is that I have a secondary hard drive setup and I followed the instructions on this page, http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Moving_your_images_directory/Adding_Storage_to_the_Images_directory, the part at the very bottom is how I have the drive connected to FOG. I may have messed something up when I did that because I switched it from being in the mount directory to the /image/newdrive directory.
Hello,
I just rebuild my fog server from scratch with Ubuntu 14.04LTS and Fog 1.2.0. I have been able to successfully deploy Windows 7 images to E5440s and E5430s but have not been successful at deploying a Windows 7 Image to the E5420s. It does act like it is going to deploy the image but never does. It goes to Changin hostname and then to Updating Computer Database Status, Database Updated!, and then Task is completed, computer will now restart. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Thanks,
Reub
On my current Fog server, Ubuntu 12.04 and Fog 1.2.0, I updated the bzImage files and saw that there are downloads for the the init files as well. Are we supposed to update the init files? If so, how? If not, why is there an option to download them?
Thanks,
Reub
I am about to create a server with Fog version is 1.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I downloaded the init.xz and init_32.xz from http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeghost/files/InitList/ Can I put the init and bzImage files in the fog install folder before I install it? Will that cause any problems during or after the install?
Where to place init.xz and init_32.xz? Will it cause problems if I change these on an active fog server?
Thanks,
Reub
