@Jaymes-Driver Reminds me of my time in the Army.

Particularly

NCO Creed
No one is more professional than I. I am a noncommissioned officer, a leader of Soldiers. As a noncommissioned officer, I realize that I am a member of a time honored corps, which is known as “The Backbone of the Army”. I am proud of the Corps of noncommissioned officers and will at all times conduct myself so as to bring credit upon the Corps, the military service and my country regardless of the situation in which I find myself. I will not use my grade or position to attain pleasure, profit, or personal safety.

Competence is my watchword. My two basic responsibilities will always be uppermost in my mind—accomplishment of my mission and the welfare of my Soldiers. I will strive to remain technically and tactically proficient. I am aware of my role as a noncommissioned officer. I will fulfill my responsibilities inherent in that role. All Soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership; I will provide that leadership. I know my Soldiers and I will always place their needs above my own. I will communicate consistently with my Soldiers and never leave them uninformed. I will be fair and impartial when recommending both rewards and punishment.

Officers of my unit will have maximum time to accomplish their duties; they will not have to accomplish mine. I will earn their respect and confidence as well as that of my Soldiers. I will be loyal to those with whom I serve; seniors, peers, and subordinates alike. I will exercise initiative by taking appropriate action in the absence of orders. I will not compromise my integrity, nor my moral courage. I will not forget, nor will I allow my comrades to forget that we are professionals, noncommissioned officers, leaders!

Next year, I will build this into my image as a fail safe. I learned my lesson this year. And next year I will be active directory, it will me much easier for me to deploy applications across the board, not to mention that Chrome has ADM modules.

Thanks for the information though. I will read up on it and figure out a plan of action for next year.

For now the Registry method will get me through. At least until next year when I have my Active Directory in place, I already have ADM for chrome set up for my students, but our active directory is not ready for deployment yet. 😞
User policies, on the other hand, will affect users in your domain whenever they sign in to a Chrome device, even if the device isn’t enrolled to your account. You can set user and device policies for each of your organizational units, and each unit can contain devices and users from different domains within your account.
This has my attention though 🙂

It still leads me to believe the user has to log in in order to receive the benefits. I am installing chrome with the intent that my students won’t log in even though they have accounts. So I have to cover all bases. Still gives me something to think about.

At least I got my gun all cleaned up for firing into barrels of fish tomorrow 😄

I know tab limiting isn’t that big of a deal, but I have to lock down the number of tabs or the students get off track. I think the staff need to do a better job of administering the students, IMHO, but I can’t fix that, I can however try to keep them on task.

in order to use the boot commands, you need to symlink undionly.kpxe to undionly.0 because of the appending .0 but then you can issue commands as normal, it seems after we got the dhcp-boot line correct the commands work again.

symlink undionly
cd /tftpboot
sudo ln -s undionly.kpxe undionly.0
enable the boot lines
pxe-prompt=“Press F8 for boot menu”, 3

The known types are x86PC, PC98, IA64_EFI, Alpha, Arc_x86, Intel_Lean_Client, IA32_EFI, BC_EFI, Xscale_EFI and X86-64_EFI This option is first and will be the default if there is no input from the user.

pxe-service=X86PC, “Boot from network”, undionly
If anyone wants to do it the manual/gedit/nano way here is what I did:

/fog_0.32/lib/common/
gedit config.sh

where are the udpcast files from the download package?

udpcastsrc=“…/packages/udpcast-20071228.tar.gz”;
udpcasttmp=“/tmp/udpcast.tar.gz”;
udpcastout=“udpcast-20071228”;

You just change the date on the 2nd and 4th lines above from 20071228 to 20120424, save, navigate to /fog_0.32/packages/ and download the new UDPcast :

/fog_0.32/packages/
wget https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk/packages/udpcast-20120424.tar.gz

With this change, FOG will install/configure correctly on Ubuntu 14.04 with the newer UDPcast.
But even though it does install/configure correctly, I still can’t get it to PXE boot in my environment… it fails to PXE boot with a TFTP timeout error. I’m going to try it on 12.04 today or soon, but it is strange that it won’t PXE boot at all…

Thanks,
D.L.

PS - In 10.04 and 11.10 everything works great, so I know that it’s not my network setup that is the problem. Somewhere there is a PXE/TFTP/Linux/Ubuntu/FOG compatibility problem in 12.04+
