@Tom-Elliott I noticed now that the multicast manager is the only service that seems to do this now after every upgrade. I am able to fix it with the commands you posted until the next upgrade. As you know, I upgrade with a script. Do you think it would help if I incorporated this into my script? If you think It’d help, I will try it. Is there a way to embed sudo -i
into the script? I’ve embedded my FogAdmin local account into the script, but I don’t know how to embed root. I know it’s probably bad practice to do that, but it would help a lot.

RE: PXE boot fails on a WIN10 based Lenovo (USB Ethernet) - FOG TRUNK
@Wayne-Workman @george1421 We are going to move toward getting more UEFI devices (Surface Pro 4’s) but still have many BIOS devices as well. We happen to have DHCP on 2012. It’s a pain switching option 67 back and forth, I will try this in the morning. Thanks again, super valuable info!

Not because it’s screwed but because more often than not you can learn something by re-doing things.
Amen to that. I learned Linux basics and the finer capabilities of FOG from rebuilding from scratch. Most people who use FOG seem to inherit an old installation from the last regime, myself included. I tried to fix what was there but it was poorly set up and unstable. It took some convincing and getting my hands dirty but I am on Trunk and loving it.

PXE menu/Registration authentication allows any credentials
Hi guys,
I noticed something funny when imaging some computers this morning (FOG GIT 7819). I was doing a full registration and when it came time to put in credentials to image it, I misspelled the username and hit enter when it asked for a password so it would prompt me again. Much to my surprise, it said “Ready with Imaging!”. Weird. So basically I entered a junk username with a blank password and it took it. So to further investigate, I went on another already registered pc and went to quick image. When it prompted for credentials, I typed junk for both the username and password… and it went right to the list of images. I thought you would be interested in thisThanks,

RE: FOG Multicast doesn't work
@arnaudrigole I was under the impression that this was a production environment. I merely was suggesting and giving advice. I’m sure these other fellows can help with multicast.

RE: Build 7819 SVN - Cannot open Host Edit Page
@shird May I ask the rough number of how many hosts you have? My GUI and browser always have trouble with loading the massive list of clients I have when clicking “List all Hosts”. One factor is it is trying to ping all of them. I used to find the search to be frankly frustrating a while back, but nowadays it works much better and I use it whenever possible. I’m not sure why it would be going blank after that. This may sound like a BS thing to try, but maybe you can clear the browser cache? I’m on the same version (7819) and am using Firefox and Chrome and though it always takes long to load the list, I have no problem getting to the host.

@arnaudrigole said in FOG Multicast doesn't work:
Any ideas ? it will very helpful to image 3 or more computers simultaneously
Just as a quick workaround while the others look at this, with the cost of slower deployment, the default number of simultaneous Unicast sessions is 10 for FOG. This means you can normally image up to 10 (or more if you change the default setting) PC’s at the same time. The rest will automatically queue up and jump on as others finish. My rule of thumb is it isn’t worth multicasting if there are less than say 30 PC’s that need imaged at once. The downside is that of course performance is impacted in the speed of deployment. Just thinking out loud.

RE: unable to boot HP z240 in UEFI
@abos_systemax Also, just starting with the basics, which bootfile are you using? You can’t use the undionly.kpxe file like usual, you can try the ipxe.efi file as DHCP option 67. Also, if secure boot is enabled, please disable it. Sorry if you already tried these.

RE: Trying to push image to client - Mounting File System Fail
@PageTown @Mentaloid I just tested this using updated firmware on the Cisco SB switch. I left all settings default and I was able to push an image to a client on the switch! As for the linksys, my networking knowledge is limited. I’m accustomed to running DHCP on a Windows Server. I’m sure one of these other fine gentlemen can help with that. You can also try updated firmware for the SB switch here: https://software.cisco.com/download/navigator.html?mdfid=283018960
(Should have all models of SB switch firmware there. I didn’t need a login to download. You can update through the switch GUI)

Around 100% cpu usage constantly
Hi all,
Up until recently, my FOG server was running pretty well in my VMware environment. I am running into alarms now for CPU usage on my server. It is constantly showing 100% CPU usage on both VMware console and within Ubuntu. Here are my stats: I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with FOG trunk 7723 (just updated to 7725 to see if that helps). VMware with 4vcpus and 8 Gb of memory. Recently, rebooting helped for a little bit, but now it shoots up to 100 as soon as it is fully booted. I looked at system monitor and 4 FOG services were sitting at 20% CPU each. Should have taken a screenshot of that, but now Multicast Manager is the only one eating up resources. It is at 25% CPU. I do not really utilize Multicast in my environment nor am I actively running that task. See below for screenshots:
Interestingly enough, the dip you see is me deploying an image.
During the worst of it.
The remaining Process still using too much
Thanks,

@Mentaloid said in Trying to push image to client - Mounting File System Fail:
@fry_p sidenote: The only SB switches I had issues with were some of the <24 port switches - and this was a issue with the stupid security they had messing with UDP/NFS; this was fixed with a firmware upgrade.
Ah, yes mine was a little 8 port SB. I didn’t have time to mess with it since a class was using the lab I was imaging the next period, but I’ll keep that in mind. Those things are a pain!

RE: Trying to push image to client - Mounting File System Fail
@PageTown I don’t mean to derail this thread, but do the clients that you are trying to push to happen to be connected to a Cisco Small Business managed switch? It’s a shot in the dark, but I have gotten the exact same error you have when trying to use that. Our IOS based Cisco Catalyst switches are no problem, but there is something about the Cisco SB series that doesn’t play nice with FOG (there is probably a way to configure it properly, but I couldn’t figure it out). I apologize if this isn’t the case. If you are using that, try a dumb switch. That’s what resolved my issue.

RE: After Imaging Windows Setup error on Fog Build 7709
@chetansays What FOG client are you using? 0.10.6 goes too fast for sysprep. I recently learned it was best practice to disable the FOG service on your image and re-enable after sysprep using the setupcomplete.cmd script. Here is the Wiki page on it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=FOG_Client#FOG_Client_with_Sysprep

RE: Fog Trunk Git 7645 update fails at SQL
@Sebastian-Roth For the sake of downtime, I am probably going to slow down the update rate, but I do enjoy helping the evolution of FOG. I was properly warned of the risks before I moved to Trunk, but being on the forefront is pretty cool. I guess I could be considered a tester of sorts. The performance jump from 1.2 to Trunk is also astounding. I am getting insane upload and download speeds without having changed any network equipment! Plus, my knowledge of Linux prior to being in charge of my FOG installation was 0. Now I can cruise through basic terminal work and scripting. Good Stuff!

Fog GUI Net graph shows big transmit spikes
Hey guys,
Sorry to keep bugging you, but I noticed this on my GUI. It seems to be a new phenomenon. There are 50 Mbps spikes in transmit. Here are the transmit stats from VMware for a similar time-frame:I’m not sure what correlates to what exactly but VMware shows much smaller transmit spikes. Should I be worried?
Thanks,

RE: Fog Trunk Git 7645 update fails at SQL
@Sebastian-Roth I ran
sudo apt-get purge mysql-server* mysql-client*
at Tom’s suggestion then ran
sudo apt-get autoremove
Ran my script once again and it worked, I’m now on 7695.
Thanks guys!
(P.S. If anyone is interested in my script, I just took a script I found and modified it to my liking and use cron to run it every night) -
RE: Fog Trunk Git 7645 update fails at SQL
@Sebastian-Roth I got this after entering the 1st command (purge):
fogadmin@FOGTEST:~$ sudo apt-get purge mysql-client-core-5.6 [sudo] password for fogadmin: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package 'mysql-client-core-5.6' is not installed, so not removed
I tried the rest of the commands and they seemed to go through.
I somehow really borked this but I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. I just ran the script and it failed at SQL again. -
