RE: Many will want to rollout Win 8.1 on new hardware well before the expiry of XP in April 2014
Lee great post,
are you able to expand even more upon your particular setup. I have a totally unattended deployment at present but it sounds like your management on this is down to a T.
In particular step 5 as you mentioned ‘installing those software previously pulled down from the server/node things like, adobe, java, AV, remote tool etc etc’ how do you have that setup/how does it work -
RE: FOG 0.33b Now Considered Release Candidate

RE: FOG 0.33b Now Considered Release Candidate
The wiki is amazing my friend. http://fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Backing_up_FOG
this article and the restoring article do not exist in the list on the Knowledge_Base page.
It might be good if we could get them added. ( I know new users can use the search function to find them and that they are in the main FOG Guide) -
RE: FOG 0.32 Differnet OS Images, Same Machine
That is correct we recommend using the Multi partition options for windows 7 because of the way windows creates the partitions. the ONLY time I would recommend using single partition, okay so I wouldn’t recommend it ever but, if you were absolutely positive that you told windows not to install that 100mb partition at the start of the disc. Even then I recommend one of the multipartition options just in case.
Just wanted to chime in and say I install windows 7 as default from disc (ie. 100mb partition + Second partition as OS) and for years I have always used Windows 7 image that was "Single Partition (NTFS Only, Resizable).
Never had an issue

RE: Bugs in FOG 1.0.0
Broken GUI when editing a group. Running latest 1.0.0 I do the following: Group Management -> List All Groups -> hit one of my groups and the GUI layout is broken as screenshot shows: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0e82r39741
I get the broken UI, actually unable to do anything from server/fog/management with rev 1573
There is one small thing which could be sorted out: FOG Configuration tells You are not running the most current version of FOG! Latest version is 0.32
This refers to latest stable release, FOG 1.x.x has not yet been officially released -
RE: Bugs in FOG 1.0.0
good shout, but I would recommend to deploy image from the 0.32 server and before it loads into windows/sysprep re-upload to FOG 1.0.0 box so all images are in the the partClone format.

Bugs in FOG 1.0.0
Hi all,
so again congrats to Tom and team.
Now that the release candidate is here a Final release must be close!
Though we need your help to test in your environment, work through the UI, test uploads and downloads, snapins, and everything else that we have come to love about FOG.
I would encourage you to Simulate a test upgrade and set up a FOG 1.0.0 server and import your hosts from your production FOG box. Remember That images cannot be copied across.
(Do NOT upgrade your current FOG 0.32 box)
Please use this thread to track any initial bug reports for FOG 1.0.0, and if necessary we can split some bugs off on their own thread.
Have fun

RE: Clients online.
Why do you have this
The dhcp server gives a hostname based on the ip address it gives the computer, which can change when its lease ends.

RE: Clients online.
I would encourage you to leave windows firewall if its the only one installed
Pinging works for me
