      @davido38 said in kernel panic:

      After update fog from 1.5.6 to 1.5.7 i have kernel panic

      As George just said this shouldn’t happen on an upgrade. The schema update should take care of this. Possibly you have not opened the web UI since upgrading??

      @davido38 I can tell you that we have 7010s and they will not pxe boot past the ipxe kernel. I haven’t found any kernel that will work. Its something specific with the firmware on the 7030 model. Bios mode works correctly for that model.

      I switched over to chat because the Q&A turn around was faster.

      The first issue was the OP had dhcp option 60 defined. This caused the pxe booting client to think the fog server was a proxydhcp server. When the fog server failed to respond the client just gave up. It ignored the dhcp option 66 and 67 settings that were defined.

      When the OP removed dhcp option 60 then a new issue popped up with some incorrect policy settings in his windows 2012 dhcp server. After that was fixed and he rebooted the fog server everything started working!!

      I’m solving this thread since its now working.

      It is indeed possible to OEM activate a non-OEM image.

      How you do it depends on exactly what kind of OEM license it is, whether it’s OEM:SLP, OEM:NON-SLP or OEM:COA. Read this to see the differences.

      ‘Activation Backup & Restore 1.7 BETA 1’ can be used to extract OEM:SLP Licensing key and certificate which is tied to the manufacturer, the BIOS, the key, the cert and the OS from an original OEM image.

      backup-cert.xrm-ms backup-key.txt

      You can then use the same program to restore the OEM:SLP key and cert to a non-OEM image (like GVLK aka KMS).

      There are other tools and methods but you’ll have to do some careful digging.

      @davido38 FYI on that script - it will only remove the apps for the logged in user. There are two different AppX commands for removing from the current user’s profile and removing the app from the machine so it’s never reinstalled for any user.

      Remove-AppXPackage = removes app for current user

      Remove-AppXProvisionedPackage -Online = removing the app from the machine so it’s not reinstalled

      I use these two commands before sysprepping:

      Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppXPackage
      Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -Online | Remove-AppXProvisionedPackage -Online
