      Hey Everyone,

I’m getting this error and i’m not exactly sure why.

It sits on this screen for approximately 60 secs and then hits a screen that says “/usr/share/fog/lib/funcs.sh: line 905: echo: write error: No space left on device”

So we just got a bunch of new laptops i’m thinking this error is related to the primary partition size being too small?? I left it at 100GB but maybe i should increase it by 100 more

Let me know if anyone has ran into a similair issue. Thanks.

@austinjt01 I’m doing a custom install of Windows, wiping out the partitions and creating a 100GB partition, leaving the unallocated space until it’s booted and going to format hard disk partitions and creating the remaining. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with it?

@austinjt01 while it is unsettling it appears to be a simple warning. Does the image complete and work fine after the minute has elapsed?

Okay, so the issue is relatively known about, but newly created.

It most likely has to do with the latest init’s being used.

From what I can gather, it appears there isn’t enough wiggle room in the initfs that’s used for fog to boot.

@Tom-Elliott After it hangs up for a while, I now see this screen. It appears it’s hanging up on Changing the Hostname. Not sure why though…

@austinjt01 I just noticed after my attempt at capture, when I try and download the captured image. I see a message scroll across rather quickly on the init of the download “inserting of partition: FAILURE” everything else succeeds.

@austinjt01 As Tom mentioned this is an issue within the newly updated inits. Moving this topic to bug reports. I am working on this and will update the inits soon!

@Junkhacker Don’t worry about running the commands. I have pushed a fix already. The inits should be available soon.

@Sebastian-Roth are the init’s being pushed for release 1.5.6 or will the init’s for that release continue to have the bug?

@Junkhacker The inits are still building bit I will make those the official 1.5.6 inits so we won’t have that bug in 1.5.6! Will let you know when they are ready.

@austinjt01 @Junkhacker New init files are available that should address both issues you saw. Manually download those (32 bit and 64 bit) and put in /var/www/html/fog/service/ipxe/ on your FOG server or simply re-run the FOG installer.

Please let us know if the issues are gone.

@Junkhacker Can you please post the MD5 sums here.

I just downloaded and tested those myself. They are the new ones from my point of view. Maybe you have some proxy cache or it’s just that we still have not properly fixed this for your case. Can you please post the contents of your /images/<IMAGENAME>/d1.partitions here.

@Sebastian-Roth redownloaded today in my browser and now the hashs are different from before and now match what you posted. I’ll update my server again and see if it works

@Junkhacker Please go to the FOG web UI -> FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings -> FTP Server and increase KERNEL RAMDISK SIZE from 127000 to 275000.

                                      Sorry for all the rumor.

@Tom-Elliott Not a good situation where we would need to either revert the inits to 100 MB size or quickly push out a new release just to fix the KERNEL RAMDISK SIZE. I will build 101 MB inits (yes, just a little larger to hopefully get around the space issue mentioned below) over night just so we have those handy.

Edit: Good news, we still had the tool chain from the latest jenkins build on the server and so I am able to generate new inits fairly quickly. Will update the latest ones on the web server as well as binaries.1.5.6.zip for now.

Edit2: inits and binaries1.5.6.zip are updated. New checksums are:

@Sebastian-Roth well if the workaround is to update the ram disk size, it’s not too hard a thing to do. We can push out a patch to fix it directly, but seeing as this value is already easy to change what about simply documenting the error and the change for the resolution?

As fog keeps making progress I don’t think asking people to make this change is too difficult. And as for 1.5.7, just add in a patch to check if the ram disk size is too small in the bootmenu, and if so update the value directly.

@Tom-Elliott Sure we’ll fix that in 1.5.7 but I’d like to see 1.5.6 not going on ground just a few days after we released it. Therefor I am trying to get to a solution where people can just use 1.5.6 without having to fix anything manually. Just tested and seems we are fine with the currently uploaded files. All good I hope.

@Sebastian-Roth So I re-ran the FOG installer. After that I tried capturing an image which appeared to work okay, but now i’m getting the same error upon trying to deploy that captured image.

It goes through the whole download process and says “A warning has been detected: Failed to set disk guid (sgdisk -U) (restoreUUIDInformation)”

Sits on that screen for about 60 secs and then gets stuck at “Changing hostname…” again

Shall I try manually downloading the files ? Maybe the re run of the FOG installer didn’t cut it?

                                            Thanks.
