@sourceminer said in Capture Image partclone fail.:

Suggestion: would it be a good idea to test these dirty flags prior to running the lengthy imaging process

I know there is a check for the dirty bit before imaging starts, but that might only be on the OS partition. Looking in the code I see a resetFlags function that actually runs the “ntfsfix -d” command. I’m not sure how its applied. I know if your drive contains the windows dirty bit the imager will stop before it starts deploying anything. So its not clear why it didn’t catch the issue on the 4th partition. But I do have to say its rare that the recovery partition would have been shut down uncleanly.

But in the end I’m glad you have it worked out.

To enter bios of the VM, use F2 key on boot, then you can disable secure boot

I lost all my settings from prior. I had to append the file.

Yes I saw this too when I was developing NFSv4 for FOG. That uses a really different exports file. So now I keep a exportfs.sav file with the correct settings in case I forget in the future.

Turns out someone had added option 60 to the global Options

Yeah that’s not a good option to have. That tells the pxe booting computer that it needs to come back after the dhcp process and talk to the proxydhcp server on port 4011 for the boot info. You would only do this if you had microsoft wds server on the same server as your dhcp server. Or if you were running dnsmasq in the linux world to do the same thing.

@george1421 I was able to add a TP-Link TG-3468 Card to the server and it worked.
The trick for anyone following or finding this thread will be to be patient and let the server go though both integrated nic’s failing to bring link up. Once it hits the 3rd nic the system will boot.

This ticket can be marked as solved. Just need to make sure documentation for RC10 is up to date as there is a problem with the link.

OK I will check that out first before marking as solved… just incase someone else wants to do the same thing. This company is to damn cheap to get new 100 dollar machines to replace the 30 thin clients… BAUGH… yes I agree its not the norm but I know Fog can do it… It can do anything 🙂

@sourceminer Although I can’t say for sure what’s going on in your case I am fairly sure that FOG does not restore the wrong image.

How do you see it’s the “wrong” image? Wrong name in the output on screen or wrong content on the PC after deploy? Maybe you re-captured the image and it’s been overwritten with the “wrong” content?

I’ve not done any more work on this. The best solution is still to have permanent tunnels from site to site via a routing appliance like a Cisco router or checkpoint router or PFSense router or some other router solution.
Sounds good Tom, I was hesitant to use the Development build for obvious reasons. For the record 1.2.0 is the version I downloaded from the Sourceforge link on the home page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeghost/files/latest/download

I will attempt to use the latest development build located here:
http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/SVN
If it wasn’t for the development versions, FOG wouldn’t work in my environment.

Wanted to update that I have completly removed Kerio DHCP from the picture and using DHCP MAC filtering to run duel TFTP servers. One for phones and the other for fog works perfect here is config for DHCPd if anyone is interested:
ddns-update-style none;
default-lease-time 432000;
max-lease-time 432000;
authoritative;
log-facility local7;

class “phones” {
match if binary-to-ascii(16,8,“:”,substring(hardware,0,4)) = “1:0:4:f2”;
}

class “other” {
match if not(binary-to-ascii(16,8,“:”,substring(hardware,0,4)) = “1:0:4:f2”);
}

subnet

subnet 10.0.7.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
option routers 10.0.7.1;
option domain-name-servers 10.0.7.1, 8.8.8.8;
pool {
range dynamic-bootp 10.0.7.45 10.0.7.155;
deny members of “phones”;
allow members of “other”;
next-server 10.0.7.68;
filename “undionly.kpxe”;
}
pool {
range 10.0.7.11 10.0.7.44;
allow members of “phones”;
deny members of “other”;
option tftp-server-name “http://phonepbx.url.com/epmcfg/”;
}
}
