@george1421 said in MySQL issues after new installation:

The default was changed in FOG 1.5.8 or 1.5.9 I think. But that would be only for a new install. The fog installer does not change the table configuration during an upgrade.

I might be wrong here but I don’t think it is yet. @Tom-Elliott ?

@doctrg Its always best to migrate same version to same version. The issue is the database since there has been many changes between 1.5.5 and 1.5.9.

On your new fog server go ahead and install 1.5.9, then bring over the 1.5.5 database and raw image files. The first time you attempt to access the web ui it should detect and older database and try to upgrade it. It will take you to the db upgrade page instead of taking you to the login page.

@Doctrg You should be able to go straight from 1.3.5 to 1.5.4 I think. Make a full DB dump on the old server, install mysql on the new one by hand (yum install mysql mysql-server), import DB dump and then start the FOG 1.5.4 installer. When it asks you to open the web interface go ahead and it should upgrade your database structure - usually does without an issue.

Not saying there can’t be anything going wrong but mostly this is going fine. As you still have the old server (or at least a full backup of machine and DB), you can always give it a try. Shouldn’t hurt.

      Q

The kernel has nothing to do with initial iPXE boot though, the iPXE binaries are only updated through updating all of FOG.

@Tom-Elliott Yep, that was my issue. I’ve updated to RC12 and from what testing that I have done, it seems that everything is working. I’m able to go from a 160GB to a 256GB and also 500GB drive and boot into Windows as well. The resizing seems to be correct as well.

@Arrowhead-IT I figure that I should report that in my recent testing with the latest client I have not had any problems with the client being installed as part of the image. It works as it should. I intend to use the script I posted here as a gpo script to add all the active directory computers on my network to fog in one quick click.
