• RE: restored Fog on new system, SSL cert bad, and uploading failing,

@Tom-Elliott
I have the folder but do not think I did… it also had me set it up from the trunk install into the /root/fogproject.

I can verify this but didnt want to break it. should i run the installer from the /opt/fogproject directory again then copy my folders over?

• restored Fog on new system, SSL cert bad, and uploading failing,

We’ve identified that the client has to be uninstalled and re-installed on all existing machines so it will grab the new cert. however what i cant figure out is why my uploads to the database are failing.
here is a snip from the log file for Apache

[Mon Sep 30 10:47:47.143776 2019] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 1988] [client 172.31.178.10:53788] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Warning: ftp_login(): Login incorrect. in /var/www/fog/lib/fog/fogftp.class.php on line 464\n’
[Mon Sep 30 10:47:50.593180 2019] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 2415] [client 172.31.178.10:53790] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Warning: ftp_login(): Login incorrect. in /var/www/fog/lib/fog/fogftp.class.php on line 464\n’

now I’ve verified the user account and password work for FTP as i can connect tot he FTP with the same credentials but i see no files listed at all. and I still get this error…

somewhere i can look?
Tom Elliot has not been online to assist. can someone else?
maybe i dont have my linux enviroment configured correctly?

Thanks

• Fog Server failing to update/install on linux Mint 19.1

hello all. its been a long time and I haven’t gotten a response from @Tom-Elliott ,
has anyone had an issue getting Fog to install on a ubuntu system ver 18? i had originally an issue with Apache2, that is resolved, not it appears the installer calls for Libcurl3 and when it tries to update it it fails Curl during the check. further reading shows they pulled support for libcurl3 and now its 4 but fog is looking for 3. anyone have a workaround or am i overlooking the obvious?
need assistance ASAP. production server. currently down.
Thanks

• HP Proliant Service pack (SPP) Need Firmware

I’m currently looking to upgrade the hd space on my FOG server… my new found problem (my dumb fault for not checking)
My Dell PE 2950 has a perc6i controller and it maxed out at 2TB hd’s so guess what this dumb ass just got? 4X 3TB hd’s and my controller doesnt support it. So in hunting around i found an HP server I decomissioned that has a smart array p400 controller i can make work it has the proper cabeling but!!! always a dam but. the firmware has to be updated…

HP the fun people changed their support site to require a live maint contract or warranty on the devices to gain access to the newest firmware for this controller.
What are the chances on of my fellow FOG enthusiats have this ISO image stored somewhere i might be able to get it from?

here is the current link for the newest version.

• AD Join/Rename on client .0.8.1

It appears that with new client the AD join feature is not functioning. there is an error stating something (im no longer at work to see the log exactly) to the effect of missing AD information so its not attempting to join the Active Directory. otherwise the NEW Client works as Described! Awesome…

Old Clients V.032 and .0.7.x to .0.8.0 will need to be manually removed prior to installing .0.8.1 I’m looking in to a way to use GPO to remove the legacy version and possibly to remove the directories/fog reg entry for the newer client version so that i can push out the msi with command line aurguments for silent install in the back ground.
If anyone has figured a way to do this easily in an AD enviroment let me know just message me please 😛

Bit of Info about the Fog as a CA…
Must install client with the IP address of the FOG Server instead of the DNS name since the cert authority ties to the ip address when it dish’s the cert out to the client.

This will also happen if you have legacy client installed as legacy did not install registry keys.

Hi,

I’ve tested the bandwith speed in SVN 3377 and 3412, for that image :

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 512 mai 18 12:57 d1.mbr
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 mai 18 12:57 d1.original.swapuuids
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8620391 mai 18 12:57 d1p1.img
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 40917364300 mai 18 13:16 d1p2.img
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3947741 mai 18 13:16 d1p3.img

In 3377 :

DL : 7.3G/Min (Avg)

In 3412:

DL : 7.4G/Min (Avg)

Regards,
Ch3i.

As far as i know the speed increased prior to SVN 3377 (I think around 3374) and the speed you see appears to be full (again it depends on the hardware, memory, hdd and ethernet to server.) but your speeds look a lot better then the before for me… i was pulling images at 3-4Gig/min no I get about 7-7.5/gig min
Hey all,

I realize many of you use fog, especially schools and such, for the speed and ability all at the low low price of FREE.

So we, the development team, would like get a listing of Organizations using FOG if you’d all be willing.

If possible, can you provide:

Organization Name: Roxborough Memorial Hospital

Location (Optional) Philadelphia PA 19128

Approximate Number of systems: 700+

How long: Since Version .29 was introduced

Add to this, if you want to be listed publicly on the WIKI, please provide a Logo you’d want used for this.

Thank you,
• RE: Wiki login

Im using the developers version currently SVN 3410. domain join had some issues we found when the default field for the OU to join was left blank. so i populated the field with the direct ldap path and it worked flawlessly. it had something to do with our AD enviroment and our 2012 servers. we have 5 AD/DC’s and 2 DHCP Servers redundantly configured. these are all on site in the same room connected with a 10gig backbone. upgrading to the new client was easy, getting the system to join the domain took some time to figure out. At this time it works like a champ.

• RE: Latest Development FOG

I can tell you this as testing it to compare,
Lenovo M73 with a 500 Gig hd, mechanical, 7200RPM icore5 2.6ghz quad CPU, 8 Gig DDR3 ram and gig Ethernet connection to server.

Prior to updates, was imaging up to fog @ 500Meg/min to 1Gig/min Maxed out. This is a 70Gig usable partition.
Prior to updates, was pulling image from fog @ 1Gig/min to 1.8-9 Gig/min, Same config 70 Gig usable partition.

After updates - Same info/Same image/Same Config
Upload to Fog was 4-4.5 Gig/min
Download from Fog started @ 14Gig/min and trickled down to a steady 7.5Gig/min stayed there until it was completed.

Big Thanks to Junkhacker for identifying the compression and Tom Elliott for getting Multicore functional.
As always, Awesome collaboration to make Fog better.

please try to remove any information on the pc’s your trying to add to fog (manually or automatically from pxe boot) and try to automatically add from pxe boot menu… see if this helps to allow for the system to repopulate the info correctly. I had to restart my server a few times as well. (restarting tftpd and mysql)
