Im good as the imaging is still working just find, i can manually rename and join it to the domain. no issues just wanted to let you know what I have found.

Do we have any updates to this or am I the only one who is suffering here
I rebooted our server and still not able to change service settings options.

ok maybe its just me but I have updated to the latest SVN 3017 and I can no longer select all of the services or an individual one for that matter to activate services on the remote device. it checks the box I click update and then its blank again. change does not stay.
Ideas?

Sorry Tom, Just saw this, I wish I had more knowledge about how to customize these options I would gladly dive in and learn about it, i was only asking if it was something that was simply added just like changing the text . I am by no means a programmer and wish I had those skills but i try my best to identify ways to better support our facility and was curious about this process.

Tom, I’m sorry, maybe i mislead you with my question, let me try to clarify my question.

when we iPXE boot the system, we are presented with the menu of options. if the system was previously registered its green indicating FOG recognizes the system and has it in its database of systems, if its red it shows that this system needs to be registered. Love this feature makes the process of knowing if its associated much faster for the guy on the go.
What I am however asking is more simplistic. I’m asking if when we get to the main menu in iPXE where it provides your options to run memtest, qick image, ETC is it possible to add the option to create (manually via typing in a name) the place holder for the new image about to be sent to the fog server? and then if a name is provided offering up the opportunity to then upload a new image from that machine to store as a deploy able image for fog to use for future deployments.?

Im looking to find a way to streamline image creation for the various pc’s we seem to be acquiring from IBM/Lenovo. would like to just be able to walk up boot the pc and then register the pc and then create an image name for it /register it to that pc and then pull the image from said new pc to store in fog to then deploy to units as needed.

This is a similar process to the already provided option of imaging the unit in place when its registered.

I hope i have made my question easier and more to the point. again, thanks for all the hard work this is a life saver for our facility and its been a fun experience to play with.

I have noticed, Fog has many usable functions. the one thing I have noticed is simple but i do not understand if its complicated to add.

In the PXE menu when you register a host for the first time, i know its red in the banner or green for registered.
what are the chances of actually adding the PC and then if no image found by name allowing the user to create one then and there and then to allow the option to upload it from there instead of having to create the image placeholder on the server first? Thus streamlining the uploading process and allowing on the fly image creation of modified systems and OEM images for new systems all from the boot menu options.
again i dont know how complicated that would be to add those features but it would make my life with the ever constantly changing pc’s LENOVO provides our facility (since they are hell bent on changing their hardware every 2 months )

Where can I find snap in’s to use with fog? this is an area I have wanted to utilize but have not had the time to investigate.

I have since utilized the service from release 1.20 and it seems to be working now as you suggested.
I hope that it will be fixed when the new release is done.

Tom, you recommend I switch back to the client updater for the 1.2 fog revision and use that?
or have you repaired this one and I should try to install the client updater for the newest revision? has that file changed as well?

Updated to newest version avail and I still get this error every time I restart fogservice to get pc to change name and join the domain.
Current OS- Ubuntu 14.04LTS currently have several small issues with os but fog has been working like a champ until recently.
Current FOG REV-2450 installed and updated today from version 2227. installed fogclient as well and still no joy, rebooted and same.

No I mean when I try to get fog to deploy an image that we have used several times in the past without issue, to have it just in a blink of an eye say the task completed without actually doing anything. its compatible since we have used the exact same model for the last 9 months. now after upgrade to newest version of FOG, this happening.

What can I say other than, the imaging feature is broken, it sets up the task then it reboots the PC, then it shows the job in the activity monitor, then BAM, it just clears out as if the job completed successfully. it hasn’t.
the PXE boot menu is working the web page is accessible, the Kernel is functional the TFTP service appear to be working.

the imaging process seems to flash by and i cant see the error, what i am looking for is if anyone has seen this before and or where i can look to see a log file that may have recorded the failed process.

OK i have the exact same issue.
the screen flashs too fast to see any error and i cant utilize the pause button on the keyboard as it doesnt respond.
In the task manager it just vanishies as if it completed the image. however it runs to fast to have done anything.
I am familiar with FOG since .029 but recently upgraded from .32 to 1 to 1.10 to 1.2 then did an inplace ubuntu upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04LTS. I can access fog and all the settings, i can upgrade the kernel so i know TFTP is working, IPXE is working i get the PXE menu. everything says its functional but i cant image a single pc.

Where do I look for the LOG files to show me what FOG has done or any error it may see that i cant on the screen.
