@Sebastian-Roth Yeah you are right, I grabbed a different laptop to test on just now and everything is fine. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it and your support.

Edit: The capture worked this time, but the deploy gives this error.

@Sebastian-Roth I ran the updates and got the same output that you have below.

Seem to still have trouble with capture / deploy though. Keeps getting hung up on “Changing hostname…”

I manually installed the updates and got this as the output

I have our images stored on our media server, if I path over to /mnt/media-images/<IMAGENAME>/d1.partitions

This is what’s in the file

    • RE: Failed to Set Disk GUID (sgdisk -U) (restoreUUIDinformation)

@Sebastian-Roth So I re-ran the FOG installer. After that I tried capturing an image which appeared to work okay, but now i’m getting the same error upon trying to deploy that captured image.

It goes through the whole download process and says “A warning has been detected: Failed to set disk guid (sgdisk -U) (restoreUUIDInformation)”

Sits on that screen for about 60 secs and then gets stuck at “Changing hostname…” again

Shall I try manually downloading the files ? Maybe the re run of the FOG installer didn’t cut it?

      Thanks.

@austinjt01 I just noticed after my attempt at capture, when I try and download the captured image. I see a message scroll across rather quickly on the init of the download “inserting of partition: FAILURE” everything else succeeds.

@Tom-Elliott After it hangs up for a while, I now see this screen. It appears it’s hanging up on Changing the Hostname. Not sure why though…

    • RE: Failed to Set Disk GUID (sgdisk -U) (restoreUUIDinformation)

@austinjt01 I’m doing a custom install of Windows, wiping out the partitions and creating a 100GB partition, leaving the unallocated space until it’s booted and going to format hard disk partitions and creating the remaining. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with it?

    • Failed to Set Disk GUID (sgdisk -U) (restoreUUIDinformation)

      IMG_0240.jpg image url))

      Hey Everyone,

I’m getting this error and i’m not exactly sure why.

It sits on this screen for approximately 60 secs and then hits a screen that says “/usr/share/fog/lib/funcs.sh: line 905: echo: write error: No space left on device”

So we just got a bunch of new laptops i’m thinking this error is related to the primary partition size being too small?? I left it at 100GB but maybe i should increase it by 100 more

Let me know if anyone has ran into a similair issue. Thanks.

    • Multicasting

So I followed everything from this link about Multicasting and how to test:

      https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Multicasting#Testing_2_Clients

Everything tested out correctly when testing with one client, I saw the message of one client connecting on the server when I booted the client in debug mode.

It also sent and received data in debug mode with 2 clients.

However, when I take a particular group in Fog and try a multicast deployment it stops at the Partclone screen, and says “Starting to restore image to device, lists the storage location and Image name”

Is there something else that i’m missing? My switch is a 50 port Cisco SG200-50

      Thanks

    • RE: Storage Node - Node Offline after upgrade to 1.5.3

@tom-elliott Maybe this is an unrelated issue, but in the past few months I have found it easier to create my image on a per machine basis. I get more repeatable results with driver installation that way.

So before my upgrade to 1.5.3 I took a snapshot of my VM running in VMWare ESXi k(for safety sake).

Now when i built out a new audit mode image that I want to try and do an upload capture, it appears to be working, but I get a series of error messages on the machine and then that particular host will sit as an active task at lets say 10% until I cancel it out.

I tried reverting back to my pre 1.5.3 upgrade snapshot, but that did nothing. Still getting the same error.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    • Windows 10 - Unpin Windows Store / Edge from Taskbar

      Hello All,

I just am putting together a new image after the latest feature update. Does anyone know how to get rid of Microsoft Edge and the windows store icon from the Taskbar?

It appears as though, after sysprep it removes the Chrome shortcut and adds edge/store.

    • RE: FOG Post install script for Win Driver injection

@quazz So in my instance, I have 4 different HP models, and 2 different kinds of Lenovo’s. I tried using DISM to install the drivers, which appears to work, but hangs up the imaging process for a long time until you physically reboot the target machine. After reboot however, it appears to be all of the drivers installed. I am struggling trying to figure out the best way to install the drivers on a per model basis. Is there an easy way to do this with FOG?

      Thanks!

    • RE: Driver Issues

@psycholiquid I tried using DISM, but it seems to hang up the imaging process on a black screen until I reboot. However, once rebooting and the OOBE experience finishes, it appears as though the drivers were installed. Maybe it’s hanging up like that because I’m not dealing with an offline image?

    • RE: Driver Issues

So do you see any problem with using DISM to install the drivers? I tried it on one machine before I left on Friday and checking the results now in the log.txt file everything seems to been accomplished:

That is just a few lines from the log file:

      Installing driver: C:\drivers\Alcor Smart Card Reader Driver - 10 [64] 1.7.45.15(n1eva07w)\x64
      Installing driver: C:\drivers\Integrated Camera Driver for Realtek - 10 [64] 10.0.15063.11286(n1eca13w_rek)\Driver\Realtek
      Installing driver: C:\drivers\Integrated Camera Driver for Realtek - 10 [64] 10.0.15063.11286(n1eca13w_rek)\Driver\Realtek
      Installing driver: C:\drivers\Integrated Camera Driver for Realtek - 10 [64] 10.0.15063.11286(n1eca13w_rek)\Driver\Sunplus
      Installing driver: C:\drivers\Integrated Camera Driver for Realtek - 10 [64] 10.0.15063.11286(n1eca13w_rek)\Driver\Sunplus

Installing driver: C:\drivers\Integrated Camera Driver for Realtek - 10 [64]

This process is not perfect, but before going any further I would like to anyone for some input. Thanks!

    • RE: Driver Issues

      I found this: www.alexcomputerbubble.com/automate-driver-installation

I currently am trying to load the drivers using the command line tool PnPutil with a powershell script

I added a folder on my vm (C:\drivers)
With the powershell script that should load the machine specific drivers into the driver store

And also adding a SetupComplete.cmd file to execute with local system privileges.

I think instead grabbing generic drivers from the store it’s trying to install them. But currently it has been sitting at the Windows “Just a moment screen” with the little annoying spinning circle.

    • RE: Driver Issues

Like this laptop I am on currently doesn’t have the right Display adapter installed:

But if I click replace driver and path over to C:\Drivers\Display it will replace it with no problem.

    • Driver Issues

I have a new Windows 10 VM I have created with a bigger HD so it could install the anniversary update. I have tailored everything to be the same as my old Windows 10 image.

The capture and download is fine, the only issue is the installation of the correct drivers for the correct model of laptop.

I have mostly Lenovo thinkpads and some HP models. The copying of the drivers from our server to the computer isn’t a problem, I think that essentially it is installing the OS without any drivers and Microsoft is pulling them from the internet? I’m not sure and would like for any input that could help.

See below that they are copying over with no issue.

Is there something I am missing in the unattend.xml file I am using?
