Hello all. I am sure this is a simple question, I have found some info, but I am a little hesitant when it comes to Linux. Anyway, I am running Ubuntu 13.10 and Fog 1.2.0. I am having issue with newer computer getting a Fatal Error : Null when I try to boot. How do I go about updated the iPXE files? I would like to try that before I do anything else. Thanks.

How are you booting to “debug”?

There are taskings that are specific for debug modes. For example, there’s a Debug Only tasking, and there’s an Upload Debug and a Download Debug task.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

The laptops have Windows 7 on them. I am just iPXE booting them the same as the other laptops we have. I tried another Toshiba and it booted fine the same way.

His type == null, but it should NOT, so I guess either is correct?

Do you mean (type != null)? Or maybe I don’t get what you mean?

Just found this in the forums: http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/latest-fog-0-33b.6476/page-67#post-24864
Seams like there was a bug in FOG long time ago. Not sure if this is similar to your issue but please check all the posts by this guy in this thread. Maybe it’s of any help.

As Tom suggested in that thread please try to run a debug session and post a screenshot of the variables printed on the screen…

By the way: From what I can tell this is way beyond iPXE, meaning that iPXE has already loaded the kernel and started linux!! I suppose this can not be fixed by updating iPXE files…

What are you booting into?

An OS type (type == null) is required to image. Booting into debug and then typing “fog” will not work.

Here is what I am getting. It is version 1.2.0 on Ubuntu 13.10. It only seems to happen with the newer HP laptops we just purchased.

Could you please be more specific on when and where this error occours? A quick search on the web didn’t give much information so we are left to guess… Maybe you can take a screenshot/picture of it. Please help us so that we are able to help you!

Well, that didn’t help. Any ideas why I am getting the error above?

There is no such thing, yet, of iPXE 1.0.1.

I try to keep the files as up-to-date as I can. They’re located at:
