Version stable
-
Hello,
i would to know il a new version stable is program soon ?
Because i have a project to found a ghost solution for a big structure and it seems the version 1.2 of FOG is not compatible with uefi & gpt ?
Thanks -
I don’t know if they have released an official go-live date with a stable release. The developers have issued a new feature hold for the 1.3.0 release. The current (unstable but highly functional) trunk version is still in beta. I can tell you having more people test and use the trunk build will help us get to a stable release faster. I can tell you the (de)bug turnaround is typically very fast with the fog project.
I do suggest (if you have time in your project) that you give the pre-1.3.0 version a try. If you discover issues post them here.

Is there a post with links to the pre-1.3 branch? Sourceforge only has the 1.2 branch and older listed.

@Andrew-Single This post I made many moons ago at my old job might be helpful to you. It may require some adaptation, but I still use it on a daily basis to update my fog to the latest version…
Also this is the wiki on how to install the svn version manually
https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/SVNhope that helps

@Andrew-Single If your fog servers are behind a proxy server let me know there are a few steps you need to do to have a successful upgrade to the SVN trunk.

@Arrowhead-IT We’ve been trying to use the “Upgrade to trunk” article ever since Sourceforge failed for about two weeks straight a while back… The Upgrade to Trunk article has git instructions, along with instructions to pull the latest TAR’d up from the chief’s servers.
The svn article actually needs merged with the “Upgrade to trunk” article IMO, and the old article redirected/linked to the main one.

Hello,
excuse my english not very good.
Ok we can use a dev project in use a git depot for example but my project is to found a stable product of ghosting for multiple site.
It will be complicate to validate a product in developpement state.
Is the version stable 1.2.0 compatible with uefi & gpt ?
Do you think the version 1.3.0 stable will be finish this year ?
Thanks -
@JulienL the best answer I can give you is I hope so. I’ve mainly been focused on improving the functionality and robustness of the init scripts (the parts that actually do the imaging and taskings) and trying to limit/minimize the bugs in the dev version. As to when it will release I don’t have a definitive answer. I hope in relatively short time though.

well as far as “stable” goes ive been using build 5370 for 3 months. Ive rolled out a couple of hundred windows 8.1 images - all of which are unattended from lan boot -> AD joined “ctrl-alt-del” screen (I use snappydriver via a script on OOBE boot).
I guess later trunk have other fixes but since that build worked for me (and works for me) I have no reason to update yet. I’d give trunk a test in your lab and decide for yourself; it is a world away from 1.2 - if only for the speed increase (not quite double the speed but I’d be surprised if you don’t notice it)
