Google Hangouts Q&A
-
Would anyone be interested in doing bi-weekly or monthly Google Hangouts for basic Q&A about FOG? The more often we do them, the shorter they can be.
-
I would be glad to help with that.
-
Think its a good idea

May 28th at 10 AM Central Standard Time
Interested parties can PM me directly with a Gmail address - and I can send out invites and get things setup.
This will be a first - I’d be happy if we hit the 10 minute mark. We can just talk about FOG and how we use it - and hopefully some questions and answers can be done. People both with cameras and without will be welcome.
@Moderators @Developers @Senior-Developers are clearly welcome.
-
Four people signed up to attend so far.
-
@Wayne-Workman ahem @Testers aren’t welcome too?
-
@Wayne-Workman Why a Saturday, will it always be a Saturday?
-
Apologies - it slipped my mind. Of course @Testers are invited.
I wish there was a @Everyone or @Community tag lol. Or the ability to send out a message or email to every registered user lol!
Saturday because - when I’m at work I need to be working or at least able to work at a moment’s notice. I also want to give the hangout my full attention and don’t want to be distracted. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
-
9 planning to attend so far.
-
@Wayne-Workman I would be interested.
-
@Scott-Adams Message me with a gmail address.
-
12 planning to attend so far.
If you are interested, please send me a valid Gmail address.
I’ve sent an email to those that have responded so far with some instructions that should help make sure we are ready to go on May 28th.
-
This would be great!
-

I wasn’t certain I was going to make it anyways, but sorry I missed the show.
I’d love to see this become a regular monthly or even weekly event.
If anyone has trouble selling this to boss folk as a good use of work-time, consider telling them it’s an ideal chance for a one-on-one knowledge transfer between you, the vendor and other technical folks.
Anyways, I hope another is scheduled soon so you can see the wall behind my head too.

I just finished watching the captured stream. Thank you very much for doing so.
Now I really regret missing it live.

Wasn’t aware this has been screen captured. Awesome! Thanks heaps for this session @Wayne-Workman. I am just watching the rest of it.
The idea of having a FOG OS seems interesting as we wouldn’t need to worry about all the issues we have with the different distros out there. But there are two things I wanna give you to think about. There are organizations that don’t want or even don’t allow to install an OS not matching what they usually have. Some only use RHEL for example and wouldn’t install any debian based or home brew system.
The other thing I am wondering about is all the different hardware out there. Currently we only need to sort out all the distro/software hickups. But what if we provide the OS installer. Then we need to worry about all those hardware install issues… Sure we could start and build up from let’s say e.g. the debian base system/installer. But then we “caught” in the debian world. Sure this will be a never ending discussion… -
To the idea of a dedicated FOG OS, can you imagine the resources required for that? Wanna watch Tom implode?
Why reinvent the wheel?
Scope creep …
