Hi,
it works with the fog user and password i created while installing ubuntu.
Hi,
i’ve installed FOG as Storage Node on Ubuntu 13.10 (SVN from today), after successfully installation it gives me blank username and password for the storage node configuration…?
How to determine the user name and password so i can configure this a storage node on the main fog…
Regards X23
Hi,
no, but that works until you have working nfs and ftp running.
It’s time to cut additional storage nodes out of fog binding.
I think it’s wrong to force people to install fog on each storage node.
The most problem is that people or companys have a big storage system but we cannot install a linux on it to make fog running.
One of the big goal is indipendent storage nodes for fog!

Hi,
i also use FOG to boot several ISO’s, Recovery Stuff, other Imaging Tools, PE for Windows Installation and so on…
It would be very nice if i could roll out a Windows Installation from Scratch instead of Up or Downloading an Image.
I have a prepared PE that mounts a network share and starts a fully automated Windows Installation, with a Dialog which Software to install and some nice stuff.
Is there a way to Extend the Webif to say instead of immediatelly up or dl for a client i can choose a advanced menu entry and enter a the mac adress for the new device. Then client will be waked up by wol and ipxe will be prepared to serve only for this mac the windows installation pe iso?
Example:
New Notebook for New Employee:
I put notebook on cable network
start rollout over fog webif
after installation has finished, reg the client
image the client with fog

Hi,
you don’t need fog prep anymore. This is obsolete with newer fog versions afaik!
Iam out of ideas when my above tips are done correctly, maybe some of the others?

Hi,
are the ftp passwords the same on both sides?
FTP Server and FOG Storage Node Configuration?
If they are not the same login error accours and the sizes cannot calculated as well as the images can’t be moved from mac dirs to hostname dirs.
For renaming and domain join the services have to be globally activated (FOG Configuration) and you need to activate the services for the client itself, have you done both?

Hi,
rename the user in the db, install phpmyadmin (apt-get install phpmyadmin) login and rename the user:

Hi,
install subversion and get the trunk the right way…

When a SVN checkout is finished it displays the SVN Version:

Hi,
i also thougth that first, then i started to believe that he talks about a file (filename or content) with current svn number.
I searched for stuff like that and couldn’t find that if that was the scope.
If yes you may could parse “Revision XXXX” from the source of:

Search for "Revision[SPACE][4NUMBERS], cut last 4.

Hi,
he registers a host, then in the meantime he creates a task with an image assigned, else he couldn’t plan a task.
Then when the machine will be network booted, it enters only the pxe menu instead of starting imaging immediatelly.

Hi,
in the end do not forget what Wolfbane8653 told you to do…
Check your version of BIOS and confirm you have the most up-to-date version downloaded from the Dell support page. Then confirm your settings for PXE boot and turn off the LAST STATE settings.
Hi,
i think debugging this step by step will bring the bug out of his hole but i don’t know enough about the internals how fog actually acts.
Lets wait for someone more skilled

Hi,
maybe the task creation does not work or fire right?
I don’t know how but you need to check if the task creation is ok.
With pxelinux it was possible to save a file named with the mac of the machine in pxelinux’s boot folder, that was triggered if the matching mac tried to boot, then you know your task should work but i think this changed with current fog version.
I think today it boots to ipxe and after boot, tasks will be checked by http with php script that will fire actions to the client maybe iam wrong here but then i don’t know what is needed to check the task creation is doing all fine.

Hi,
do not forget renaming host and joining domain at same time should not work. Does your script rename the host and perform a domain join at same time?
Why not using fog client for joining domain?

Hi,
when reading this i remember something i read on the net about changing mac on dell machines,
i don’t remember much but the guy wrote that he needed to remove bios battery to get his initial mac back.
Sound confusing but i am sure that i read this some days ago somewhere.
EDIT:
Lol it was on this forum
http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/fog-windows-8-1-and-mac-address-changing.11184/
To reset the MAC address on the computers I have to pull the CMOS battery and reconfigure the BIOS settings and then immediately image with a clean version and not allow the host name changer to run. After pulling the BIOS battery, if I don’t immediately re-image and they boot to Windows, the MAC address changes again.
I really don’t know if this has anything to do with your problem but it sounds a little related.

Hi,
is it possible that you forgot to make a task after the host registration? are you used to work with fog?
After the host has been registered you need to create a task to deploy.
Or do you try to Quick Image direct over the PXE Menu?
