Hi,

i do the following, install Win 10 with latest Media Creation Builder iso,
when Setup asks for Express Settings press STRG + SHIFT + F3 to enter audit mode.

Client will reboot and logon with embedded administrator account, install and change anything you want.

Then sysprep /oobe /generalize /shutdown /unattend:c:\unattend.xml

Now you can create the image.

For an unattend file i recommend this site: http://windowsafg.no-ip.org/win10x86_x64.html
dont forget to add the copyprofile option to your unattend.xml else it will not copy your adit profil to default user.

Do not uninstall modern apps in windows 10 only remove them from startmenu, you get messed when removing staged apps.

If you ever wnat to rework the image, deploy it somewhere and then go back to audit mode with sysprep /audit /reboot
then delete all created profiles and users except build in administrator do your changes and sysprep again

Hi,

i have a syspreped Windows 10 Image with a preinstalled Fog Client in it.
When i deploy the image and check the log it will always tells me could not get security token.

Afai remember this will be gone after a reboot and client start working.

What is the best way to deploy the fog service, just install and sysprep? Should i bring it to a clean state? If yes how?
Another strange thing is that the fog service seems to not autostarting after deployment, the service is set to automatic but it will not start itself afai can see, the most strange thing is service is not running but fog client process is running in task manager.

Hi,

i uninstalled the fogservice and reinstalled it now the service will autostart.
Maybe its wrong to just install fog service in a master image and then deploy it?

Please tell me what is the right way to integrate fog service into an image?

Is it maybe a problem to choose the option to hide the fogservice icon?
I did that before when integrated into the image.

Hi,

ok i rechecked it and the problem with the service is the following:
After deployment FOGUserService.exe is running but FOGService.exe (service is not started)

Before i created the image i just installed fog service on the client.

Any idea why the service is not starting by itself? When i start the service manually it works and i immediatelly get a fog.log in client directory.

I have installed fog without icon and with log in fog service directory.

EDIT3:

I created a new image where fog service is installed but never started, when i now deploy that image the service will still not start, only the fog userservice starts, when i manually start the fogservice it works.

Why will the Fog service not autostart when integrated in the image? I don’t understand this behaviour.

Hi,

iam trying to use fog client (new one) to install printers.
I am currently under trunk 7416

I can see in the fog service log that the printer should be installed, when i check the printers i cannot set the installed printer but when i check the available ports i can see the fog created the port IP_x.x.x.x but the printer install itself is missing.

When i try to access the unc path of the printer inf showing in the log i can successfull open the share (inf).
Also the Printer Model is exactly like in the inf file.

What could be the problem here? The Client is a Windows 10 x64
Did i made any wrong inputs to the printer configuration?

just to clear this up, was that fixparts thing something like chkdsk /f under a windows machine?
Or was his windows reinstall wrong, old windows install on harddisk (no partition wipe while reinstall)
and because of this bad boot configuration?

I only ask because i know that fog will abort image uploading when windows wasn’t shutdown propperly.
Thats a good reason, who wants an image that may have errors or at least will welcome after download
with an error that it wasn’t sd propper

Hi,

no i have 3 storage group, default, second and third.
Each group has one storage node, default (fog main 50gb) and a storage node (s) with 2x 1TB Raid /images and /images2.

If i use (to test) the defaultmember it shows used slot and throughput.
If i use one of the 1TB nodes it doesn’t show used slot and throughput.

Every Storagegroup or at least every containing node has its default 10 slot’s, dashboard is showing 30 slots in summary.

just my 50 cent but isn’t there a way to place a php file on running apache on a storage node (S) that can be polled by the main server?
Do you talk about both problems? Used Slots and througput? I am asking because i will not understand why slot usage should no work without direct netdev access.

i have a familar problem, defaultmember will always show used slots and throughput but this does not work for additional storage nodes (S) for me both used slot and throughput is 0, graphs are drawn but left empty.

I don’t have multiple nic’s, as it works for default node this must be some sort of missconfiguration or bug.

Hi,

on the destination machine just delete fogsettings file an rerun setup,
i recommend to make an image without fog allready installed just a clean ubuntu then you install fog on it.

A storage node (S) just need fog master ip and sql password.

actually i can customize my menu fully after i found out how it works, but i edit files that will be overwritten when i update fog when a newer svn release arrives. I am going to write me a script that checks if the files i overwrite have changed so i can mention when i need to check the files because i may miss relevant changes to source.

It would be really cool to have full force over the menu in the webif Take your time i can wait.
