Hi,
you did something similar to this?
http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/how-to-make-a-simple-snapin-start-to-finish.304/
a little quote from that thread:
IMPORTANT NOTE: If using Vista or Win 7 you must turn off UAC evaluation prompts for administrator otherwise windows will prompt for permission to install, and hold up your unattended process. To turn off, in your system image you shoud type secpol.msc into the start/run bar, then choose “local polices>security options>User account control:Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin approval mode” and choose “Evaluate without prompting”. Also disable “User account control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation”.
I would more prefer a solution that elevates the execution to be an admin except turning security stuff off!
Maybe interesting: http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Creating_Custom_FOG_Service_Modules

In the lastest svn advanced.php i cannot see how the initial values for the pxe menu are defined, also i see the my custom background bg.png in first menu but no definition for it like in svn before 2077

Hi,
you can use the runas command but it needs the user account password entered!
runas /user:Admin /savecred
The Problematic things is you need to store your ad admin accounts password, not the best idea.
I would create a special user for this so you don’t need to use the major domain admin account.
There are tools outside that can encrypt passwords in batch files and tools that create exe from bat.
Sorry this one is in german but you may find one in english:
http://www.tobbis-blog.de/pcwrunas-anwendungen-mit-privilegierten-rechten-bequemer-starten/
English translation:

In a domain environment (domain) administrators usually work with two user accounts: An account for the “normal” work and an account that is privileged and extensive rights.
Annoying as it is, if you constantly invoke the context menu the “Run As …” command and must enter your user name and password for the umpteenth time.
There are several tools that promise a relief here, but almost all seem to cost money.
A free version, the PC world by 2009 with the tool pcwRunAs published, which allows you to create shortcuts to applications, which can then be started automatically with a privileged account.
It is also not even necessary to enter a password, it is stored encrypted namely (using the hard drive serial number).

In any case, a clear recommendation for any admin who has repeatedly durchexerzieren the above procedure every day.

Hi,
thanks, that are also my thougth’s my only fault i couldn’t remember how fog was doing this.
Ok but how to correct this? Sorry but iam a little confused as normal this will be autogenerated but have i check the ftp conf manually to get the current password to put it into the storage node ftp configuration or will the password the one i enter there?
Edit:
I am on my way…
I encountered this problem and discovered that it was the FTP credentials being used for the storage server.
Go to the Storage Management section. list all storage nodes and select the one the one that is being used (in my case it was the ‘default member’).
Check the username and password there and make sure there is a corresponding user account on the fog server with the right access priviliges on the images folder shown in fog managment.
In my case it was set to username ‘fog’ with a very long password. I don’t know how this ended up as ‘fog’ instead of ‘fogstorage’ but it appeared to have been configured with some randomly generated password.
BTW I knew it was an access problem because the fog server’s ‘auth.log’ file showed the authentication error.

Same error here. Changed the password from the user fog (linux user fog) to the password from the linux user fog and now the problem is solved.

It’s ok to have the Fog user in the defaultmember. The password that you would need would be the same as your tftp password which can be found under Other Settings > FOG Settings > TFTP > FOG_TFTP_FTP_PASSWORD. If you haven’t changed the password for the default FOG user, it will be a long randomly string of letters and numbers.
I set a password under fog settings tftp server and also under the defaultmember node, now i need to reupload an image that will take some time…
Stupid me on my way from fog in virtualbox to vmware player to esx5 over vmware converter… lol… i changed the fog webif users password different to the fog linux users password i initially set.

Hi,
no problem with navigating through the dir’s

I renamed the machine before i made the image from it’s mac name to it3809 shouldn’t the images be stored in a dir under dev named by it’s name or is these wrong memories?
For my understanding the server just have to check the filesize in filesystem, it looks like thats possible by shell but where is the bug? hmmm Maybe FTP Problem?
Afaik after the image process something is done by ftp and i mean i could remember that there should be ftp login details on the defaultmaster? Look here its empty after fresh install

hmm there must be something wrong with ftp
something else, wasn’t the node name always filled with its given name?
Also master node isn’t checked, very strange it was a install from scratch!

FTP Service itself is running but i cannot login to check if that works, whats the password, should i define new where to set it? iam sure size on server in webif is zero because the scripts try to check /images/it3809 but the image is still in dir under its mac number as you can see on screenshot.
Edit:
For fun i created dir it3809 in dev gave it 777 and placed a 10mb file in there but nothing new in webif, maybe this is counted after image creation, ftp move processes and file size infos are stored to db?

webif remains zero

I dont know 100% exactly when if fog doing what so don’t laugh about my trys

Hi,
apt-get install phpmyadmin
after that point your browser to:

there you go
Give a s**t to access
They only want your money

Hi,
iam not sure if it’s harmful to edit the defaultmaster, just an idea.
This one here is untouched except the storage node name:

If your machine is a test environment, simply drop fog db and reinstall
Regards X23
Hi,
something bit strange but could be a solution, some computers have problems with a “Restore on power loss” setting in bios related with wol. Try to turn that off if enabled and check if the machines shutdown propperly low.
Regards X23
Hi,
oh you touched the defaultmember? afai remember this is not good.
Have you tried to leave it untouched and add an additional storage node?
Regards X23
Hi,
this is not the intention of fog but i can hardly recommend wintoolkit combined with an unattended.xml.
I boot a winpe that is making a network connection, mounts a win7 install share and runs setup fully
automated
but i just use that for fresh installations, i image with fog after that.
Regards X23
Hi,
can we also see the configuration of the storage node?
Regards X23
