    • RE: Multiple Fog-server instances on the same server

      Hi,

i would not say that is not possible but it’s a way to much work.
Try to install on a different machine if you need old and new twice for a time.

      Hi,

that simply sounds like the wrong exit type for this machine. Try to use another exit type and report back.
What is it for a computer and which type of exit type do you use?

    • RE: Install Google Earth

      Hi,

      download the offline installer: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en
      and read the following: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/maps/qcdhk3Aj1CI

The important thing is OMAHA=1, but this will force auto updates.
Setting your Snapin to MSI would be wrong because it’s not an msi.
Ok i am wrong here the binary contains an msi but i cannot find the temporary path where the installer extract it to.

Before trying to deploy that try this in a commandline on a local computer to see if it works.

      Good luck

EDIT: I tried it for you “googleearth-win-7.1.8.3036.exe OMAHA=1” installs earth silently on my system.

The Following should work, don’t forget to add the installer binary, i don’t do this for fun 😉

      alt text

The Snapin preview should look like “cmd.exe /c googleearth-win-7.1.8.3036.exe OMAHA=1”

If you finally want to extract the msi out of the exe installer read this: http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/deploying-google-earth-through-gpo

    • RE: New server 1.4.4 stopped responding - No changes made

rerun the fog installer and pay attention if it’s throwing errors.
Do you have automatic security updates enabled for ubuntu? Setup is asking you while installing if it should install critical updates automatically.

Maybe something is broken cause of this.

@george1421 like george is telling, don’t fear of trying the RC’s, i also work with RC9 in a productive environment 😉 I have done all the basic stuff (capture, deploy, snapins, active directory join and so on) Feel free to make a backup of your fog instance before going to RC’s

    • RE: Deploying an Image to a Dell Optiplex 7050

      Hey,

i was remote on the system and we installed the current RC (switched to dev branch).
Helped him out with some sysprep lines, added to stop fog service, set it to disabled and so on.

Seemed to work well but he still has a problem with the dell’s 7050’s but i have the feeling we have that spanning tree problem like here:
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10512/dell-optiplex-7050-fails-to-pxe-boot

This is what he gets when trying an 7050:

      Bild Text

The op will ask his network admin for a check, i suggested to connect fog and the client with a dump switch and then to the environment. This is not done yet.

The initial problem with the dell 7050’s isn’t solved yet!
@msaglioc99 any chance to give the thread subject a better name (subject) about the problem?

    • RE: Error when capturing image

      Hi,

      try to remove the

      /shutdown

option from sysprep and shutdown the computer with:

      shutdown -s -t 0 -f

      then retry and report.

I would bet the disk is in an unclean state, it’s a kind of hibernation windows 10 uses for a fast next boot.
You can also disable that permanently with:

      powercfg -h off

@themcv afaik this is only enabled in the preinstall of the os the surface is shipped with (recovery).
I never saw that problem with my own images.

    • RE: Windows 10 EDU 1709 Domain Join Doesn't Work

      Hi,

      just my 50 cent…
check the specific host for its client service options, i can remember a case where a new client was inventorized but for some reason the options for the host specific client options were disabled.

Have you ever tried to disable the option to join the domain for a specific host, delete it’s fog client log and shutdown the machine, enable domain joining again and boot the computer, wait some minutes and supply the fog client log.

@andreiv said in Windows 10 EDU 1709 Domain Join Doesn't Work:

Why don’t you join the domain from the sysprep answer file?

      https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730845(v=ws.10).aspx

The op is not asking for other ways. Joining domain is one of the fog clients goal and if we have a problem here everyone like to see it solved, no alternatives! 😉 Hail FOG 😄

    • RE: Windows 10 1709 and Client 11.14

@uwpviolator is it possible that you have a autologon in your unattend.xml? If so i had two autologons in the past until the client doesnt needed reboots twice anymore, since that point i reduced auto logons to 1 instead of 2.

I am not sure but i think it was 11.12…

      https://news.fogproject.org/fog-1-4-0-officially-released/

      New Features

      New languages: es-ES, eu, no
Renaming a Windows computer and then joining a domain is now 2 times faster
Renaming a Windows computer inside a domain is now 3 times faster

    • RE: Question About Windows Licensing

      Hi,

you have to get the key out of the bios from your machine, from what i can read you buy computers with preinstalled oem licenses in their bios. I can give you what i am using to activate, i have a binary that will display the bios key, i pipe that over to slmgr to inject the key and activate.

Write me a chat msg i have an additional hint for you.

    • RE: WOL ? Computer boot/start alone

      Hi,

these are not wol pakets, i know that problem very well.
There are nics outside supporting the feature “wake up on pattern match” that means a simply ping can wake a windows system.

This happens because fog pings all known hosts to check if they are online.

Check the nic driver in your task manager i will bet you will find an option like that.

      Bild Text

If that option is enabled try to deactivate it.

I suggest to change the way the server is detecting if the clients are online. @tom-elliott @Wayne-Workman @george1421 @joe-schmitt
