    • RE: W10 Error when capturing image (ACPI Bios Error)

@ReinierG said in W10 Error when capturing image (ACPI Bios Error):

      Hey,

I’m trying to capture an image on a Surface Go 2. The process starts off well, but when it reaches 6.79%, the speed drops significantly, and I encounter the following error message:

ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\Tz.TZ00], ZE_NOT_FOUND (20230628/psargs-332)
ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PC10.LPCB.ECO._Q14 due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20230628/psargs-529)

What can I try to fix this issue? The machine hasn’t been sysprepped, but I also haven’t fully installed the OS yet, so that shouldn’t be necessary. The current installation is at the keyboard/language selection screen. Also stopping and resending the task did not fix this issue.

      Thanks in advance!

I tried capturing the image on an HP ProBook G7, and it worked fine. Online, I found some information suggesting that this error might be related to a firmware issue. Could that be the case?

    • W11 : Unattend file.

      Hey,

Would it be possible to run an autounattend.xml file from within the ISO? I tried modifying the ISO myself using the disk images from the directory, but none of those ISOs could be opened, so that wasn’t an option. I also found no correct information online about this topic.

What alternative method can I use to implement the autounattend.xml file?

      Pxe Menu Timeout

      Hey @Tom-Elliott ,

No, the issue is not that we don’t see a menu. When we start netboot and the main FOG menu opens (where we can deploy an image and access other options), it automatically exits after 3-5 seconds and proceeds to rEFInd, which is not correct.

I allready see the setting, can i just set the timeout as high as i want without issue’s?

@Tom-Elliott said in Boot Menu: rEFInd Initializes Too Quickly:

@ReinierG This is a setting of the exit type for the host.

There’s 2 places this can be defined. The first place is global should should be configured under FOG Settings -> Exit Type (I cannot remember if it’s specifically under EFI Exit, but I think it is)

The 2nd place is individually to each host.

I would suggest looking at the host settings and see what it’s efi exit type is configured for. It sounds like it’s configured as rEFInd exit, if you set to EXIT does this fix the issue you’re seeing?

      Hey @Tom-Elliott
Thanks for the quick response! I’ve updated the Boot Exit settings:

‘Exit to hard drive type’ to EXIT
‘Exit to hard drive type (EFI)’ to EXIT
Now, the boot-to-disk function works fine, which is already amazing thanks! However, we’re still facing the issue where, after 3-5 seconds, it automatically exits.

What else can we try to keep it in the main boot menu?

And when we press “Boot from Hard Disk,” it returns to the rEFInd screen instead of booting from the hard disk. It should boot directly from the hard disk, right?

    • Boot Menu: rEFInd Initializes Too Quickly

      Hey,

When we start the boot menu and reach the main “boot” screen, if we don’t select anything within 3-5 seconds, it automatically proceeds to the rEFInd initializing screen with a blue bar.

Is there a way to disable this, or is it a crucial feature? Right now, we have to switch tabs very quickly to make a selection, so having an option to disable this would be really helpful.

      Hey @Tom-Elliott
I tried the powercfg command and that fixed the issue, i think the device was not shutdown fully, we got it working again.
      Thanks!

    • Error when capturing image. (Operation not permitted)

We keep encountering the following error message:

      Could not mount /dev/nvme0n1p3 (/bin/fog.upload>beginUpload)
      Args Passed:
Reason: The disk contains an unclean file system.
Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount
Failed to mount /dev/nvme0n1p3 Operation not permitted.
The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shut down Windows fully,
or mount the volume read-only with the 'ro' mount option.

We have already fully restarted the Windows PC, but the issue persists.
What other solutions can we try to fix this?
