i made a lot lot lot downloading and uploading without problems. We just received that new computer and i wanted to customize the image to download and the others too.
Is it cause of the components of the laptop ?

thank you!
i search the command to backup the actual kernel and i found this
sudo cp /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage.backup
sudo mv [downloaded kernel] /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage
but i think that I m another version. In 1.2.0 svn3118, i dont see those files… So i m a little confused and am not sure which files i should backup…

hi,
I was searching for that option and I realised that I was not in the same last version… I was in the 1.2.0 and not in the svn version. I m now in 1.2.0 version 3118 and I see a section “Fog Email Settings”. I think it s that but how does it work ?
The package has been installed but i m not receiving mails…

would it be possible to add the Name of disk/Partition when uploading/downloading in the Active Tasks. It s really nice to have the speed, the %,… But when there is more than 1 partition, it s really helpful to have that name also 🙂

• RE: Fog Crashed this morning... When i try to connect => Database Schema Installer / Updater

well thank for your advice but i didn t work…
I made a very bad manipulation… I wanted to change the ownership and rights just on /images but it s seems that i forgot to write images and thus all the rights have been changed on the whole filesystem.
So i tried to capture ownerships and rights from my other serveur to overwrite on this one.
Scratch fog installation by remove all php* and mysql* package
Reinstall fog
install some missing php package
and… it s working again…
But my server is like “cheese” with too many permissions…
But at least i can take a backup and put it on a new server…
🙂

what if:

1. i make a NEW installation
2. i create image with the same name of on my prod installation except that to make it quicker, i ll capture image of small vm windows 7
3. I replace the images folder on the new server with the “old” image server
Will it work ?
I don t care of the existing mac address, hostname,… I just need to get back my images working

• Fog Crashed this morning... When i try to connect => Database Schema Installer / Updater

Hi,
i have a big problem… Yesterday before leaving from work, i ran an image and this morning i was checking the size of the file of the image on the web interface and it was written 0.
So i checked the filesystem, it looks correct except the permissions on the files. For some images folder it was “fog” the owner (the one with size 0 if i m remember well) and other with root.
So i ran this:
chmod -R 777 /images
chown -R root:root /images

I went back on the web interface and i m redirected to the page:
http://xxxxx/fog/commons/schemaupdater/index.php?redir=1

i tried to make the backup:
root@ubufog:/opt/fog/utils# cd ~;mysqldump --allow-keywords -x -v fog > fogbackup.sql
– Connecting to localhost…
mysqldump: Got error: 2002: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock’ (2) when trying to connect

and i got also that message:
fog Can’t get stat of ‘./fog’ (Errcode: 13)

So I don t know what to do… New installation is maybe the only way BUT i need to keep all my images. Is it possible to restore them in a new installation ?

For sure when it ll be working again, i ll run every day a backup like written in the wiki…

thx…

Hola Fernando,
I m really sorry for this, I m not searching for a fight at all. It s just that i found that it was something so interesting and i was so happy that i found the installation files that i wanted to share it here !
Now i m in production and have to deploy my computer otherwise it would have been a pleasure to test it !

• RE: More control with Partitions
We have developed this feature, but we use fog 0.30.
The way it operates is simple:
1 º) When you upload the picture for the first time you save the partition scheme in the database, via web services.
2 º) for the next time, the web interface gives you the option to choose which partition you want to upload.
3 º) FOG script on the client, ask via web services if you need to upload the whole disk or just a partition. If the result of the query is running the fogpartinfo ALL, otherwise, it returns the device / dev / sdaX.
4 º) Once the upload process, the web service takes care of Post_Stage2.php to copy the image file of the partition in its place
5 º) Saving the partition scheme you know that images have the same schema, so you can share the image files of partitions.

In this way the code is responsible for making the task of renaming files, and avoid human error.

Example:
The source name image is aula-bz-cursos-A6A-rembo-mantenimiento. We can upload all partitions, sda1(NTFS) or sda5 (NTFS) and share it with aula-bz-cursos-A6A-rembo-gx620_produccion image
what is shown in the screenshot above…
A special version of fog to allow to work not only with hard drive but also to restore partitions only.
I didn’t test it but i m also interested in that functionnality 🙂
