RE: Default User in Win7 for someone used to XP
RuralIT, thats exactly what i meant ( Probably didnt sound like it haha) … what ever is setup in the Admin profile gets copied to the Default user profile if its set in the xml

RE: WIndows DHCP Server Settings 66/67 already in use
Or you could just try and set the Scopes on the machine itself and see if it works ? i know i have tried this before but "upper leve: setting took preference … but hey its worth a try

RE: PAGE FAILED TO LOAD- Joining domain
i always reccomend a installation from scratch , because sometimes there are issues you not aware of until you actually do the sysprep and run windows after the sysprep, i would also reccomend you build your XML file again and then test, im pretty sure it will work after that…

RE: PAGE FAILED TO LOAD- Joining domain
Under specialize - amd64_Microsoft_Windows_Shell-Setup_neutral
you will see there is a option to setup Copy profile to true

RE: Default User in Win7 for someone used to XP
In my understanding the administrator profile gets setup and thats the “default user” in windows 7 so im pretty sure if you set everything there and sysprep it should pull through for all your user’s, i havent had any things not work for me yet but i must say i havent made any changes on the local machine with regards to policies, but you could try LOGON SCRIPTS which is what i do in my case which sets permissions for groups on all my machines once added to the domain

RE: WIndows DHCP Server Settings 66/67 already in use
In my opinion i would say that those options are configured because it needs to be , i would suggest you ask your Network Admin to put PC’s in another Vlan and you could then set the scopes there and it wouldnt have a effect on the IP telephones

RE: PAGE FAILED TO LOAD- Joining domain
Did you select the copy profile to = true in your Build of the XML file ?

RE: Uploading windows 7 image fails
Hi
if you want to use the (NTFS Only, Resizeble) you have to create the 100mb partition, i cant tell you the background because i simply dont know that but i know for a fact through trial and error that it only works with the 100mb partition( in my case atleast) if you dont want that then you must select Multipartition image then it will work there, but for some reason which i cant remember now i eventually ran into problems there ( think the size of the disks were not the same and it didnt want to image) thats why i chose this option because its so much more easier

Future thought
Hi Guys
By no means am i a developer of any sort but it would be quite interesting if you could be able to use the fog client to send pop up messages to specific machines… EG if you plan on imageing machines at a specific time you could send out a broadcast to a group of machines letting user’s know whats going to be happening
I know that in XP there was some sort of a pop up menu when a machine is being rebooted etc but i must say i havent seen it since i having been using Windows 7Anyway that was just a thought…

RE: Restoring image freezing computer
Maybe my input might help here because i have had the same issues as some listed here
This is my process start to finish (Single partition NTFS only, Resizable)I install Windows 7 from a CD, when i get to the point where i see the partitions listed i delete all partitions and click next ( At this point you do have a option to create a partition first but i dont because i have had issues before)
Once windows is installed i make sure all drivers are installed and the machine has ran Windows updates, i then install my software till i feel the machine is ready for UploadNow at this point i have my XML file already configured and copied to the Sysprep folder
So all i do is run the FogPrep
Run the command prompt with Elevated rights and type in the following command and also assuming you are in the c:/
cd windows/system32/sysprep/
sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /reboot /unattend:%windir%\system32\sysprep\unattend.xml “press enter”
at this point the sysprep is now running and upon reboot ( at this point you should have set the server to upload this machine) it will connect to the fog server and uploadIf a machine is not sysprep’d correctly it will 90% of the time break before it even started up
“Whether I run fogprep or sysprep or neither, FOG is breaking my master boot record somewhere along the way. I created a bare bones image from a clean install, uploaded it and tried deploying it and it fails”
Now Fogprep and Sysprep is totally different, so make sure when you run the Sysprep you do it with elevated rights ( it does make a difference)Hope this helps…

RE: Windows 8
Well im thinking it should be the same as Windows 7, unfortunately i dont have a copy yet but will update if i get one

RE: Connection timed out?
Hi,
i know i had this TFTP error and that was because my Firewall on the FOG server wasnt switched off and that SELinux was not disabled
i dont know if it will help you but just make sure that those are both turned off -
HostnameChanger Domain Error! ('Access Denied' Code: 5)
Hey guys
i’ve seemed to run into a weird issue lately, i get this error message in my fog.log file but this is not the case for all machines, say out of 150 machines imaged 20 of them won’t join to the domain and give this error, Any idea of what it could be ?
Could it be that the server was too busy at the time ? cause normally i dont image so many pc’s at once …
