@ayy_nelson said in PXE boot issue with HP Probook 450 G8 (Realtek Nic):

I too purchased a handful of new G8 HP Laptops.

Some things we found with this new generation of systems with this realtek network adapter. Update your FOS Linux kernel to 5.15.x series (we just discovered this) and also update your iPXE version using this method. https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/15826/updating-compiling-the-latest-version-of-ipxe

Right now we only have anecdotal evidence that it fixes what changed in this generation of hardware.

Would anything break if I run UPDATE hosts SET hostEnforce=‘1’; to update all hosts in one blow?

No, that shouldn’t break anything. I reckon it’s save to do - if you really want this.

@jtappen From what you wrote it seems like you are on the right track with this - Active Directory Defaults in the FOG settings should be the was to go.

So which way do you actually register your clients?

Our Fog is on versoin 1.5.6

This is not the latest version. I cannot say for sure we have found und fixed in the latest but if we find this to be a bug I need you to update to the very latest version.

@Joseph-Hales it deals with the firmware that might be applied. while this is typically reset on reboot, windows firmware applied holds in the NICs ROM. The fog inits load their own firmware in a temporary state.
