is this with all 780’s or 1 or a select few?
i’ve had a few issues with 780’s and 380’s where they performed slower then they should while booted into windows, and the I/O chip on the motherboard (the one that doesn’t have a heatsink) gets so hot you can’t keep a finger on it. just the other day i had one of these that i was having trouble getting to work with fog, and after being really persistent with it, it eventually failed to boot at all any more. as in, will not go past the dell splash screen, freezes 😞

I’m happy to test any of the kernels for the Dell 755/760/780 and provide feedback.

I have reinstalled FOG, but to no avail. And this started yesterday, so I think it might be somewhere in FOG or Ubuntu

It seems that a “Dell PowrConnet” has Spanning Tree Proticol (STP) enabled by default.

If you disable this feature on this switch it may allow PXE to route through.

To quote Tom another thread…
2) Check all networking switches that can be managed have portfast enabled (cisco) and/or *STP Spanning Tree Protocol) are disabled on the switch. The and/or meaning with Cisco, portfast should be all that’s needed, but turn off Spanning Tree Protocol if you can just to ensure this is NOT a factor in blocking the DHCP from iPXE.

If you read during the install of fog it tells you do do this. That is direct documentation.

Would you just keep clicking next in an install of Java and install all the extra crap that comes along for the ride? No you untick the extras and just install java. Same goes for any other install. Read the output.
Hello,
I’ve just upgrade my fog server to 1.0.1 and have problème to boot the host under pxe!!!
few informations :
ubuntu 12.04 ; fog 1.0.1
service tftpd-hpa running
my fog config.php :
…
I run Fog under the same version of Ubuntu as you and in the past I have had PXE boot issues. I don’t remember exactly what all the symptoms were, but over time I have come up with this two line script and I just run this every time, first thing, after I reboot the Fog server… since I started this practice…never had any problems again:

sudo this file

start isc-dhcp-server
restart tftpd-hpa
