Sorry I had forgotten that tid bit of information, let me beat my head against the wall a little longer and see what I can come up with.

RE: Latest FOG 0.33b
YOU WOULD do that after I already updated my 0.33b once toady, I’ve been dying to test this! I wil have to wait until tomorrow when I am on site with my server again

RE: Injecting Drivers during audit mode for syspreping Windows 7 and then Fogging
Not a problem glad I could be of help!
Like I said it may not be the “conventional” method, but I’m pretty good about finding my ways around things

RE: Ubuntu Server w/ FOG now running Debian? I didn't install Debian...
He’s talking about the splash login page.
Tom is right Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian, so there isn’t much of a concern if you are still able to log in to your users.
You should search an Ubuntu forum on how to re-install the Ubuntu splash page.

RE: Injecting Drivers during audit mode for syspreping Windows 7 and then Fogging
Yes it can, well it does. I normally add them in folders so I know what I am doing if I need to point a driver manually

RE: Quick Question about pulling an image
I noticed this as well, I thought it odd, but I checked on the server and found the files for both partitions and the second file was a few gigs after I deployed the image it worked fine… May be something for Tom to look into

RE: Quick Question about pulling an image
What image type did you set under image management, what disk type did you use?
I recommend using the “Multiple Partition Image - All Disks (not Resizable) - (3)”
You can create multiple image stores aswell, that way you can make a “test” image and a “test2” and so forth, then when you want to switch the image deployed you can do so from the Host management page by selecting the Host and changing the host image from the drop down box.
This way you can try multiple uploads (remember to change the Host Image on the Host Management screen other wise you will over write your current selected image). Honestly I do all my imaging on a Virtual Host and let it upload that way I am only having to change one Host in the management screen to upload a new image and create the task, and I only have to keep track of one Host in the list, I name it MASTER or something along the lines so I remember which one it is.

RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33
I like your stance, but I feel differently about the said subject.
I could climb on a soapbox, but my final words to utter are “this is not a bug, and does not need to be addressed.” and that’s my two cents. If others feel the same way as you do, you need to twist Tom’s arm to get what you need

RE: Injecting Drivers during audit mode for syspreping Windows 7 and then Fogging
C:\Drivers just like that guide, but the funny thing is I never read the guide until today
Then I use RegEdit, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version click on “DevicePath” and enter “C:\Drivers” (remember the entries must be separated by a semicolon).
I’ve only had issues with one particular unit we have here, C115, they change the motherboard type, and it’s been a bit of a hassle to get the chipset drivers to install untouched (Mainly because it likes to run an installer to get the drivers in place), so I just wrote a script to run the installer and added it to the setupccomplete.cmd file.

RE: Injecting Drivers during audit mode for syspreping Windows 7 and then Fogging
Not a problem, good luck! I’ve been thinking about writing a driver pack I may give it a go for this summer… then I can actually help troubleshoot the issues with it.

RE: Surface Pro - PXE boot - Need to image for mass deployment
Does anything else in your corporation grab the PXE boot menu before it continues booting the OS?
If you have not tried, please do so and report back.

RE: Injecting Drivers during audit mode for syspreping Windows 7 and then Fogging
I think what you are looking for is called SAD2
http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/windows-7-deployment-fog-sad2-driver-tool.380/
There are many ways to do this, I just make the drivers available on a folder during install, it parses and grabs the files it needs, if a driver fails I manually point it to the file that is already on the hard drive. I have NEVER used this tool and I can not offer help in the area, but I do believe it is more along the lines of what you are looking for. ( i manage 3 school buildings too so manually editing things isn’t that big of a deal but I can see where it would be with a larger scale of customers.)

RE: Surface Pro - PXE boot - Need to image for mass deployment
Okay I understand now.
Does it even display the PXE boot information, or does it just fly over it and not try?
did you update the Firmware to the May 2013 revision?
Are you using the Microsoft USB adapter? Are you holding the Volume Down button while booting?
-
RE: Surface Pro - PXE boot - Need to image for mass deployment
I don’t know what you mean by “Fog doesn’t hit it”.
When you are displayed the pxe boot screen, did you first register the device to the fog server? or is that where you are having problems?

RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33
I’m sure it could, would be easier to attack the apache config file and add .php extension to the file so it looks for the php file first
Besides it tells you after you finish installation to navigate to the “http://ipaddressofserver/fog/management”.
Hell, if I remember correctly the link is even clickable in the terminal window so you don’t actually HAVE to type or copy anything, just make a shortcut.

RE: Multicast
<begin rant>
I run into that problem as well, cisco has been SO KIND to provide me with the software to manage them (COMPLETE AND TOTAL SARCASM!!!)I’ve been in the run around with them for months, I keep getting those emails saying “this ticket will close in 4 days because there is no response” so I blast them with “I still need software and I still need these switches added to my account so I can service them” and good ol Mark Long will hit me with his “Our apologies, your product WS-C2960S-48LPD-L serial number EXPUNGED is not covered by a service contract. In order for you to receive support today you will need to purchase a service contract from your local partner / reseller.”
Such bullshit, I can buy a cheap DLink switch (I have a couple already) and have FREE software to manage them, spend a crap load on Cisco Switches, get no software to manage them. What a joke! I don’t see why a “service contract” isn’t provided with the switches, you pay an arm and a leg for these damn things!</end rant>

RE: PXE-E53: No Boot Filename Received
I’m going out on a limb here, I don’t think the issue is with the server, but the network.
I say this because this SAME issue plagued me from the START of my setting up fog.
I had to set up IP address helpers in my network in order to help with the resolution of my fog server, I then installed the DNSmasq service to help with the pxe boot process of finding my pxelinux.0 file.
My recommendation is to install the dnsmasq and use it a proxy dhcp server (Don’t worry it ONLY works during boot up process it will not affect the dhcp of the entire network).
I would also look into the changes that have been implemented in the network, something has changed, maybe a new switch? or replaced a piece of hardware? Maybe someone changed a setting? Make sure your Next-Server (option 66) is point to FOG, also verify that your pxe boot file (option 67) is set to pxelinux.0 (note it is pxelinux.ZERO).

RE: Multicast
Yes, Cisco… I have the 2960s here they cause ALL KINDS OF RUKUS!!!
Let me know if you find a suitable setting for them, I am still tinkering with mine but there are only about 20 computers on that side of the building, they got added after the start of the school year so I didn’t have to image with them last year, I have a feeling this year will be “fun”.
