When I try the host list report I do only get a white page. When I run the Host and User report I get a list of Hostnames and Mac addresses and a users login period like I should. The issue is that on some machine I have a hostname but no MAC address. FOG can’t find the hostname when I search for it and it won’t let me add that particular hostname.

Hostname exists when it doesn't
I have a really weird issue. I recently imported a couple hundred of machines into FOG and I decided to run a Hostname and Users report, since the Host List report appears to be broken for me, to see if there were some errors with some of my hosts. Some of my hosts don’t have MAC addresses listed. When I go to search for the host FOG doesn’t find it, but when I try to add the host in it says it already exists. Is there somewhere else in FOG where I can clear out the hostname? I’m currently on version 2873.

RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM
That got it to work. Thank you. My reasoning behind why I thought the kernel’s would help was because the kernels contain the bzImage files that go into the pxe service.

RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM
I read in other forum posts that updating the kernel fixed pxe booting for certain models of PC’s. I thought I would try it see if it would work for me. Unfortunately it did not.

RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM
I updated to the latest Kernel that is available and I’m still unable to pxe boot to Dell Optiplex 740’s. It works perfectly fine on models 755 and up but it just won’t work on the 740’s. Besides the kernel update is there anything else I can try?

RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM
I’m having some similar issues with some Dell Optiplex 740’s. Secure boot doesn’t exist for the BIOS on these pc’s. The error I’m getting is Could not boot: Input/Output error (http://ipxe.org/1d0c6139). tftp and http go through without any issue. I’m not sure what is causing this issue and why an Optiplex 755 will go though pxe perfectly fine.
Edit: I’m currently on SVN 2873. I know fog 1.2.0 worked with the 740’s.

Current Logged on User/Last Logged on User
I have a request that I’m not sure if it’s been talked about. I would like an addition added to hosts that can allow us to see if any user is currently logged into the machine or at least some way to see the last logged on user. To that affect also being able to tell if the machine is powered on or not from the host menu would be a nice as well. This way we can tell if a snapin will go through or not because the machine could be powered off.

FOG 2873: AD encrypted password issue
I’m trying to get a machine to join to the domain. I have everything set properly. I encrypt the AD password with FOGCrypt and copy the password into the proper fields in fog. (In both the FOG settings and in the host settings for AD). However the fog log gives me an error on the machine that there are non-parsable characters in the string. I go back and look at the password and it’s completely different from what I entered. I had this working prior to 2873.

Snapin return codes
I have a quick question on the snapin return codes. I know -1 means that it failed and that 0 means that it went through. What does a return code of 1 mean? Is there a list of what return codes there are and what they mean? I haven’t seen one on the wiki.

RE: Fog 2734: Can't update Active Directory settings
After a bunch of research I was able to solve my issue. For some reason mcrypt only had it’s mcrypt.ini file in the /etc/php5/conf.d folder. The file also needs to be in the /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d and /etc/php5/cli/conf.d folders. I simply copied the file to those 2 directories and restarted apache and then the active directory options worked again. If anybody else in ubuntu has this problem check those directories for the mcrypt.ini file.

RE: Fog 2734: Can't update Active Directory settings
I’m also getting this issue with almost the exact apache error except mine references line 272. I tried the update you suggested but I’m given the message that I already have the latest version of mcrypt. I’m currently on SVN 2873

RE: FOG 2734: HostnameChanger doesn't work.
I’m currently on 1.2.0. Is there an update I can grab that can hopefully fix this issue or should I wait for the new release which looks like might fix a bunch of issues since the code was reworked.

RE: FOG 2734: HostnameChanger doesn't work.
I’m having this issue to. However I’m not sure if I’m on 2789 or not. Where would I look in fog to find that out and if I’m not how would I update it.

RE: Group within a Group
That is wonderful news to hear. I apologize if asking this is bad, I’m very new to FOG and your dev team, but is that something that would come in the next major revision (months to years away) or something more akin to a point release (weeks to months)?

Group within a Group
I have a feature request for future updates to FOG. That request is the ability to create a host group within a host group. Here’s an example of what I mean, I work for a school district and we have over 4000 pc’s and laptops. In order to find machines and manage them better we obviously separate them by school. But we would like to go further and specify if certain machines in a school are in a lab or not as well. Currently I’m not seeing a way to do this. If this could be done in the future then organizing our PC’s would be much simpler.

RE: Snapin will not start
Could this PHP error effect how the snapins work, or does this error effect another part of fog?
Edit: I can’t seem to upload my error log but here is a copy and past of it.

RE: Snapin will not start
I was looking around at some log files within the fog server itself and noticed that apache does have an error in it. This is the error:
php fatal error: require(): failed opening required ‘…/commons/base.inc.php’ (included_path=’ .:/usr/share/php: /usr/share/pear ') in /var/www/fog/service/servicemodule-active.php on line 2
-
RE: Snapin will not start
After the snapinclient module wakes up from it’s sleep the only thing it does is “Attempt to connect to fog server” and then relay the message that “SnapinClient Module is active”. I still have a snapin waiting to be pushed to the machine stuck in queued status.
-
RE: Snapin will not start
Hmm. For some reason the snapinclient process is set to sleep for the next 372 seconds. I know I changed it to check every 60 seconds in the config file.
