• RE: Multiple problems with FOG after Upgrade.

@Wayne:
All systems are full loaded on my end and configured accordingly. The password has been reset to the one in the /opt/fog/.fogsetting file and was change in two places in the FOG Web UI, one for the TFTP and the second for the Storage. The storage is local to fog, there is not iSCSI or remote/near (SAN/NAS/DAS) storage attached to the server.
And for the final question: Yes I can do my pleasure on the server.

Here is another tip that might help, not sure, let you decide. The error is only on download but not upload. I have uploaded three (3) images so far, no issues, but I cannot download the one I actually need.

Thanks.

• RE: Multiple problems with FOG after Upgrade.

Thank you Wayne. The process you provided was done yesterday and fix the access to the storage. Today I only have the issue with couple couple of images. The permissions indicated by the Wiki indicates to allows everyone (777) to the folder which should be set to 744 or 774 depending on configuration. In any case the value is set to 774 on my server as the owner belong to the group and it is the only group for that folder. Everyone else can read the folder.

I will try again and see what give as there were, what it looks like, unfinished images.

Thanks again.

• Multiple problems with FOG after Upgrade.

After doing updates I am not longer able to read/write to the storage in /images. There are multiple error being encounter. The storage password was reset as one of the article was given.

While trying to perform downloads from some images the error is:
Failed to create deployment tasking for the following hosts

You must first upload an image to create a download task

In upload the Win7 images seems to be working but the Win8.1are failing with an error that the file systems needs to be check with sfck. Any advice on this particular issues?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Thank you Tom for pointing in the right direction. There was one more place that the password needed to be change.
The second location is under:
Storage Management >> DefaultMemeber >> Management Password.
After changing the password and submitting the changes; it seems that it is back online.

Thank you so much!!!

Followed the advice provide and change the password under FOG Configuration->FOG Settings->TFTP Server->FOG_TFTP_FTP_PASSWORD using the password located in /opt/fog/.fogsettings; line storageftppass=" ". After that, changed the user fog password using the same password from /opt/fog/.fogsettings, line storageftppass value. Still same error.

Any other ideas?

• RE: Update to SVN 3421 broke everything in FOG

@ch3i
Thank you for clarifying. In that case, the answer is as follow:
I can see the images in /images and subfolders, all files are there.
In the web GUI; all images names, configurations, descriptions and pointers are there.
When a task is setup the response is:
Failed to create deployment tasking for the following hosts

You must first upload an image to create a download task

Even knowingly I have all the files and folders in the right location. It seems as if they were deleted from the DB.

I did reboot the server to reset all services and still no go. I am thinking the pointers are not working. I am thinking something most change after doing the new update to the schema in the DB.

I am not sure what you are asking. If you follow the conversation you will see that was an update.
That should answer what I think you are asking. If I had any images before. The obvious answer shall be"YES".

• Update to SVN 3421 broke everything in FOG

After running an update on FOG using SVN and running the installation file, FOG was upgraded but now nothing works. All that I get at the Dashboard are spinning loading circles and on the host management all my hostnames are not recognized.

Is there any way to go back to the previous version? Or, make the new update work?

Thank you for you assistance in advance.

• RE: 1.2.0 upgrade TFTP Error - File Not Found

I am also getting the same error.

The error produced is:
TFTP
PXE-T01: File not found
PXE-E3B: TFTP Error - File Not found
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM

Except that I am getting and IP address a the boot on the machine and it is the only machine giving me the error. The error.log is not providing too much information as there are not errors for the particular host. I am not getting any errors on the issue. The system is:

Compaq 5008 MT
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Series v1.18

There are multiple PXE boot files under /tftpboot and all of them have been tried without success. I am still investigating the issue.

Finally got it to work!!!

I want to thanks all of those for your being patient with me and giving feed backs through out this particular cluster. After getting tired dealing with the “what if” finally it was time to restore the drive to factory state by destroying all sectors, tracks and cylinders. Then installing Windows 8 and letting Windows 8 to create sectors, tracks and cylinders. It worked!!!
Yes and no.

Have you tried running fixparts on the drive? Is the size of the drive smaller than the size of the drive you were originally creating the image from (if this is a non-resizable image)?
I think you are asking wrong question. I am not downloading and image, I an creating a new image from scratch. Meaning, got the systems, destroyed all the partitions, installed windows 8.1 directly from disk, then create a new image into FOG. I think you might be in the wrong track as I am not downloading and image into the HDD but uploading a new one into FOG.
I haven’t use fixparts in the past so, I am not familiar with it. I will have to investigate to find out what it does. However the point I was trying to make was that two different systems having the same exact issue. What are the odds? One Lenovo and one Acer. I can do the same in a third computer and see what I get. Most likely the same issue. In every system that was blew away and installed from scratch the image failed.
The disk you’re attempting to image, is it smaller than the original source disk?
I am not sure what are you asking. These are two new systems that I blew away. I removed the image from factory and performed a clean install to remove all the nasty bloatware that comes from the factory (i.e. Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer, eMachine, etc.). Then an image is made out of the new install for further deployments.

I am not sure if I actually answered your question.
What?!
i asked you to follow a very specific set of instructions, and expected you to report back the results. This would not have required you to rebuild the image from scratch.
I don’t care doing the extra work as long as it is working correctly. The point I was trying to make in the update was: By writing zeros to the drive there is nothing left and the drive was restored to factory default eliminating any other guesses.

• RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM

Update:

I was persuaded by Junkhacker about the GPT table left over so, using gparted all the partition were removed from the disk and reinstalled windows from scratch and surprise! It did not work! I am beginning to think it has something to do the way FOG handle the partition table when Windows is installed from the original CD/DVD/USB image. To make this even more clear, a Lenovo Touch B50-30 with the original image was able to be image from FOG and the image was uploaded to the server, however, after destroying the partition and installing Windows 8.1 from scratch and retried to upload an image, the problem presented itself again with the same error; invalid partition table blah, blah, blah.

• RE: Unable to boot to some PXE ROM

Update after updating the trunk as requested.

Since I got a new laptop with too much bloatware it was very much given to install Windows from scratch. Here is the procedure that was follow:
Created an original image from the original installation = Success
Configure Legacy
Disabled secure boot
Enabled PXE
Installed Windows 8.1 from scratch by:
Booting from USB bootable stick
Deleted all the partitions
Installed Windows 8.1
Created an image from the new installation = Failed

The error is the same, invalid partition table. I am starting to wondering if it has something to do with the installation type. Both systems having the issue, Acer Veriton M2611G and the Lenovo Touch B50-30 are experiencing the same issue if a Windows 8.1 clean install is perform or is it just the FOG does not recognize the new partition table? In either case the image creation failed.

Hopes this help to find a solution to this issue.

Sorry for the long break; many things going at work. I finally was able to do the update but I haven’t test the upload yet.

Tom:
Do you want me to do the BTSync too? I will be testing it fully tomorrow or the day after. Please let me know if there is anything else you want me to do.
