Maybe there’s a solution to do a backup & deployment without touching the MBR of the computer (the images are saved into .img files for each partition and one .mbr file).

The simple/stable way is to install from scratch your computer… a normal installation, without manufacturer’s bullshit.

I’ve find a solution on this post :
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/3695/using-custom-mbr-for-lenovo-clients

I will try immediately, but I’d like to find a solution to not have to physically intervene on the machine I want to upload.

Hi, it’s a manufacturer installation or you have install the OS from scratch ? (format/create partition)

@Wayne-Workman looks like the neither the FOG server’s firewall nor the hardware firewall was the problem. Still getting “/default.ipxe… Connection Timed Out”
(by the way, the error includes a URL: http://ipxe.org/4c126035 )

Hi, you can try with ipxe installed on an USB key to ensure that your TFTP server is running : http://ipxe.org/download and http://ipxe.org/cmdline

It is sitting in the /dev folder on the storage node. It is not being copied to /images or being replicated between the two nodes.

Can you try the FTP connection of your fog server using a FTP client ?

What about this? Is there a function for that?

If you rename or change the domain name, the client make the job without reimage the computer.

Is fogstorage meant to be a separate unix account used exclusively for connecting nodes together?
I would love to know how to fix this instead of reinstalling

FOG_STORAGENODE_MYSQLPASS is not a unix password, it’s stored in MySQL database (in nfsGroupMembers table), has said Tom, it’s only to communicate between FOG node storage.
Ensure that in you FOG settings (in web UI) the FOG_TFTP_FTP_PASSWORD has the password 68c364.

Tom’s latest update has updated your ipxe files. If you use the kkpxe or any of the other pxe files please try testing around the other pxe files to see if this helps.

If not then we will have to report your Machine hardware (Make/Model) so the ipxe team can look into it.

      Fixed.

@ch3i Ok, great! By the way, I´d like to install Fog WITHOUT dhcp service, on a PC which is currently running on a network that gets IP from the dhcp of a TP-LINK Router. I know I need to install dnsmasq service. I did it, the pxe clients get ip from the tplink router, but thay can´t reach properly the pxe boot file. Would you please give a hand whith this? The name of the files to edit and lines to type so as to let pxe clients boot prperly? Thanks so much!

      Never used dnsmask, sorry.

Ubuntu 14.04, for SVN version you have to read that : https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/SVN
SVN versions are dev releases for next FOG (1.3)

      hello all,

Running into an issue when trying to upload an image for my Optiplex 7020s. It seems to be getting held up at “Using Hard Disk: /dev/sda” and doesn’t ever get to actually uploading the image and also doesn’t fail. I have checked BIOS and it is up to the latest version.

I am stumped at the moment. I have had no issues over the last few years with any other Dell model.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

      thanks!

Hi, same issue last day on a computer, I turning the task into debug and use the command fixparts (use the “w” key to apply change proposing by fixparts) to solved it.
