    • RE: Image hosting on NFS server, process uncompleted?

      @george1421
      Ahah, no problem.
      I run version 1.2 of FOG, and there is the node configuration:
      alt text

      The “management username” and “management password” are the same as the filezilla user.

      Look at what’s displayed on filezilla , it can’t copy files because the script looks can’t create the directory in /images :
      alt text

      I verified the rights on fog ftp user, it has full RW rights (+create directories), i tested to create a directory in /images with filezilla, logged with “fog” user and it worked…

      Do you think the problem could come with the fog script?
      for the test, i created manually the directory in /images and launched another upload task, actually loading, we will see … !

      Hi @george1421

      Oh ok so i think you’re right; but

      You wanna say FTP or TFTP?
      I don’t see any “ftp configuration” in the fog web gui ?

      i set the same password on
      fog tftp user,
      fog unix user ,
      fog filezilla server user,
      fog management username on storage node,

      still don’t work 😕

    • Image hosting on NFS server, process uncompleted?

      Hi Fog Community,

      Again an NFS issue… 😕
      I try to upload an image on a external NFS share, the process starts, upload the image on mounted /images/dev directory, the two “diskclones” process work and create /dev/mac@ddr_of_master/d1.mbr , d1p1.img, d1p2.img, d1p3.img.
      At the end, i think it has to create in /images a directory named by image name defined on webui, and transfer that files into it. But it won’t … the .img keep in /dev and the upload process finish without errors 😕

      Any ideas?

      i just don’t see the “TomElliottUSB” on the kernel i selected before…!

      SOLVED 🙂 !

      Hello Tom. The NIC is integrated on motherboard, what do you mean by USB nic? a network card plugged on USB?

      @george1421
      Hello George, fog is running under version 1.2.0, the same since the initial setup. Kernel version just updated is:

      Official Published Kernels
      Kernel - 3.19.3 TomElliottUSB

      i’ll just try with
      Official Published Kernels
      Kernel - 4.1.2 TomElliott

    • RE: Latest DELL computers won't register/boot on PXE

      after manually register the host and assigned a debug download task with E5450, thats what happens:

      osid=5
      osname=Windows 7
      mbrfile=/usr/share/fog/mbr/win7.mbr
      type=down
      storage=10.1.11.170:/images/
      img=E5450Win7prox64
      hd=/dev/sda
      part=/dev/sda1

      [root @ fogclient /] fog

      –> black screen, with flashing dash in the bottom left hand corner .
      Maybe the 5470 isn’t compatible with the 5450 image… ? yet they are very similar,same disk (ssd 256) just the cpu changing from I5 broadwell to I5 skylake…

      Hi Fog Community,

      Today i received new computers from DELL, Latitude E5470 & E5570.
      I tried to boot it on PXE, they load the pxe menu but when i try to quick register or full host register it stuck on “Attempting to register host”…

      I tried to update to latest kernel on FOG configuration but it wont work too, it download the kernel then stuck on “Download Completed! Moving file to TFTP server” …

      Any ideas?

      Salut !
      Ecoute ce matin ça fonctionne en upload/download, je ne sais pas comment.
      J’ai toujours le message d’erreur “Device busy” à l’upload mais ça passe outre et ça fonctionne…

      @Wayne-Workman
      Still have the error, after redefined storage node 😕

      Yeah i know my setup is not a regular configuration, but now it works with nfs server on windows , in upload / download. As you know there are more chances to encounter a problem in upload… ^^

      Anyone know what can cause this problem? :s
      I tried in “upload debug” task, it told me :

      " Mouting file system … mount : mouting 192.168.253.20:/images/dev on /images failed : Device or resource busy

      @Tom-Elliott

      Sorry if i’m hard to understand.

      I tried to mount a cifs directory on a Windows server, with mount.cifs cmd.
      Then i defined in the fog storage node, the local @ip, path to mount point, and it never worked when trying to upload an image (failed to mount nfs, every time)

      Tried to put the wsrvr @Ip in the storage node, with path to access cifs shared directory , but same issue : failed to mount nfs

      I encountered all the possible issue trying to externalize the fog storage x)
      Last , i was on join.me with @Wayne-Workman to work on NFS share, we solved the unix access problem, but it still don’t work for FOG today, no error displayed 😕

      So now its possible to mount directly CIFS storage in fog storage nodes, with fog trunk?

      Hi Tom,

      “Tom built CIFS support into the kernel when I requested it”, so this kernel is already integrated in fog 1.2 ? fog trunk?

      It support cifs over nfs? or cifs mounting directly?

      Of course, here it is :

      “Management username” and “management password” are the same as defined for fog unix user, and as user with full rw rights on filezilla server

      Hi Wayne, Thanks for your help.
      I will document it.

      After we did the test windows “WindowsNode”, i recreated the “images” nfs share in E: no problem i have rw access mounted on linux.

      … But still have error “Failed to mount NFS volume” when trying to upload, but no error message displayed ! “Mouting file system… done”

      I still working on it.

      Hi,
      You can export the fog storage only via NFS. I tried to setup a local directory, shared by fog nfs server, then mount it via cifs on a windows srver but it don’t work too. Still have right/protocol issues due to NFS.

      If you follow the windows storage node procedure, maybe you’ll get errors like i encounter actually, can’t access to shared nfs directory (windows server 2012r2), maybe not (in this case i’ll appreciate your help too ;). check the thread, it will be updated as soon as we work on a solution:

      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/7263/permission-denied-input-output-error-nfs-ext-storage-urgent/6?loggedin

      The best way to export fog storage still NFS hosted by Linux!
